Switched CAI out and redynoed
#62
I placed the order with Jay for the JLT intake kit. I should have it Friday. I will decide by tomorrow if I can make it to a dyno on Saturday - depends on my schedule
BTW, Jay was great on the phone and seem to be a stand up guy. If the product is a good as others have said, he will be a great provider of Stang parts

Glad to see so many are giving the JLT a chance. It's hard to argue with numbers (particularly at that price), and the more confirmation we get, the more confident we can be in the results.
I say we start taking bets!
A pint of Guiness (provided by Swingle) says Bryan sees 10 hp and 10 ft. pounds over the MMR set-up (and I KNOW Bryan will make before/after passes on the same day so we have a fair comparison )
Any takers?

Camp Chaos actually did a series on VH1 called ILLustrated for a while, absolutely hilarious.... haven't seen it in awhile though.
How much is the JLT now? First it was $150/$175 depending on paint, now it's $250/275 based on an edit by tucker that I saw

Nah.... It's still $150 (unpainted) and $175 (painted). The only part that seems a little strange is the "price" of the tune. My understanding was that the SCT tuner was about $325 or $375 with the PC cable. Hi and Lo Octane performance tunes come standard, plus you get one custom tune (assumming SCT can input the specs from your mod, which futher assumes that their database contains the specs on various makes and models etc). Even if you need a totally new "custom" tune somewhere down the line, don't SCT/Dibablo either give them away or charge at most $25 for one?
If that's the case, I wonder why Tucker is quoting $425 for the SCT with the DTP (the dyno shop) tune. Perhaps his tuning shop wants more (i.e. about $50) for each tune than SCT/Diablo? Not that they don't have the right to ask for as much money as they please, it's just a little higher than the market going rate, and it seems a bit strange, particularly if SCT gives (up to three, on average) custom tunes away for free (via email) and Diablo only charges $25....
It's still a great buy (even with the inflated price of the custom tune), but I may consider just buying the intake and (blank) tuner from Tucker and having one of the local (Michigan) tuning shops give me their own custom tune with the JLT intake. This way it will be specific to my car, and I won't have to correspond with a shop (DTP) that is thousands of miles away....

Well, Bryan it was great talking to you too today. I also talked to many others and welcome the calls. Seems many aren't happy with what's out there for the 05. I don't blame you all. A filter and MAF housing is NOT going to gain much power, nor should it cost $250!!!
There was never a edit on price. I may have edited something stupid or spelling but not the price.
As someone said, I do not have anything to do with the SCT tuner price, but from what I understand there $400 with a standerd tune. So a totally custom tune added that is JLT specific for only $25 more isn't bad.
To get this tune down it took many hours playing on many cars to be happy with a tune we can "safely" send across the country.
As for the $75 tune on CD. This is very cheap. If you go to a dyno/tuner shop you can expect to pay $75 for the dyno and $125-200 for a custom tune. Ballpark on pricing, but you get the picture.
Tuning for this amount of air isn't a 5 minute deal for your tuner.
This way you can feel comfortable installing everything without the need to "run" to the dyno shop. You will feel the power difference!
Thanks
to all

Yeah!!! Just ordered the JLT/SCT from Jay and he was very helpful! He said they are now shipping the SCT with 2 tunes 87 & 91/93 octane since everyone had been asking for both anyway. The SCT Tune is going to be set up to work with the level of mods I have: JLT/CAI, ud pullies, and Magnaflow x-pipe with high flow cats and Magnaflow axle back exhaust.....can't wait! Jay also made it clear that they are programming their tune so that you can install and not have to go to a dyno shop. I will go anyways just to get that final "fine tune".
Can't wait!! Looking for 305 - 310rwhp.......that would be approx 345 - 350hp at the crank - now that's legit - finally a Mustang that's in the pack with other manufacturer's hp ratings w/o a power adder!

That is music to my ears! I have pretty much decided on the Diablo over the SCT for various reasons and I would like to give the JLT system a try, but I was not looking forward to having to dyno a fresh tune for it. That would kick the total cost of the system WAY above $150!
Jay,
Let us know how the Diablo tune goes!
