The Hellwig I have is adjustable via 3 different holes, and is 25.4mm tubular with a hammertone finish. I purchased it via Summit Racing who had it drop shipped directly from Hellwig.

The hardware is OK, but the quality doesn't even come close to Steeda's, albeit the Hellwig was half the price. I had a set of Hellwigs installed on my 81 T-bird (designed for early Fox Mustangs) and it worked for well over 10 years so I kind of liked their design: simple but effective.

 

Is it a hollow or solid bar?

 

The Hellwig I have is 25.4mm hollow tubular. I have it set on the softest setting and it works great. I can get the back to kick out on dry pavement with a meager 300+ hp. If anything I'd maybe go up 1 setting at most.

I'd be interested in seeing what the Strano bar is - hollow vs solid.

 

If I am not mistaken, Hellwig makes Strano bars only to his specifications.

 

I think you're right. Mine is hollow.

I have mine set on the stiffest setting, but have my front bar on the mid setting. Gives nice rotation on trail-braking on the track, but is a bit twitchy under power, and rather treacherous in the wet. Combined with C/C plates almost eliminates understeer.

 

Interesting setup. I kept my stock front bar because the diameter was the same as the aftermarket adjustable front bars. I actually bought a BMR, put it up against my stock bar and kicked myself because I had to pay return shipping for a bar that is essentially the same.

 

I think you could actually drill out some holes for adjustment on the stock bar and essentially have the equal of some of the aftermarket bars out there. The better ones are lighter, stiffer, and the end tabs will be more durable than stock.

 

I have the same bar setup. I have a little understeer but I think it's because I have different springs than you. I also have dynamat in the trunk (what was I thinking, I never thought I'd be racing the car).

I might end up going with Sams 25mm rear bar and using it on the softest setting.

Worth a try, just keep an eye on it for cracking, etc. I'd think of maybe using some fat flat washers, too, to spread the load, and a lock washer if space allows. If it doesn't work out, no big deal, you're in the same boat as before, and can probably still use the stock hole, or go ahead and get a new front one anyhow.
