stock mufflers with Bassani catted X?

I have stock headers, Bassani Catted X pipe and flowmasters. The exhaust sound at idle and normal driving throttle is in credibly hollow "classic" sounding with the cams I have, but at part throttle and more it gets very raspy, and a bit to loud.

So, I'm wondering if I find a set of stock mufflers and put them on, how quiet will it be, and will it get rid of the raspy sound under throttle? I've heard that most chambered mufflers get raspy with catted X pipes, and the flowmasters certainly do. Will the stock mufflers do the same?

When I had stock exhaust with the flowmasters, it was not near as loud as it is now with the catted X and flowmasters. So I'm guessing that the stock mufflers with the catted X will still be a good bit louder than the stock setup?

Here's a video of it idling if anyone wants to hear how it is now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nemv0H9qgkE I wonder with the stock mufflers on there will the idle still be loud enough to really hear?

I have stock headers, stock mufflers and a Bassanni X. I originally had the cats out, but the smell got a bit too much. So I put the high flows in. Definite drop in noise level, but still kinda loud in my books.

Here is a video I made when the cats were removed: http://c5photography.com/MyCar/Bassa...SoundMovie.wmv

After putting the cats back in, it sounded the same, just a little quieter.

Hey wow, that was a great comparison video, hah! Thanks :-)

I think I'll go the stock mufflers route, seems to be in that video your car is quite a bit less raspy than mine. How loud is it at idle compared to the stock exhaust, noticably? (hard to tell volume on the video).

I have the bassani X with cats and GTA mufflers. In my opinion this is the perfect combo for a daily driver. It's a little raspy but in a good way, nice and loud with no drone at all. I've had several sets of mufflers on there with the bassani x and this is the best. I've had magnaflow, JBA, stock, and the Bassani mufflers. Other than stock and GTA they all had drone. The stockers were a bit more raspy than the GTAs and they didn't have as good of a growl. For the price and the nice tips over stock I'd get GTAs.
I had a good exhaust video on youtube but since so may people were making fun of me for a missed shift I got sick of it and took it down.

any other suggestions for a quiet muffler that would have a good tone with the catted X?

I have the bassani axelbacks and could not be happier with the sound quality and volume. I think the Bassani axelbacks with the Bassani X Pipe would be a great combo. maybe a little louder than youre looking for but I dont think it is raspy

It is a little louder (with the high flow cats) compared to stock. But nothing you have to adjust your conversation level for.

The flowmaster cat-back is likely what's creating the rasp you're getting. In general you want to mate straight through style mufflers with x-pipes rather than chambered mufflers like the flowmaster.

With that said, I have the bassani catted x with the bassani race axle backs currently. The combo is actually much quiter than I figured it was going to be. Not much louder at all at idle. It trumpets from about 1700-2000 rpm but at highway speed I actually feel it's quieter than stock.

I would go with either the Magnaflow or the normal street bassani mufflers in your instance.

Ditch the flows or X pipe.. Preferably the flows.. Flows plus x =

Ok, I've gotten used to the sound level, so I don't think I need something any quieter (but preferably not much louder!) I guess I should be looking for a "straight through" type muffler. I've heard good things about the Ford "stinger" mufflers, and one of the bassani mufflers. Any other suggestions?

Ryan, I've love to hear that video clip with the GTA mufflers, any chance you could upload it again, or email it to me?

I had that same setup, prochamber and pypes mid mufflers, but they scraped on alot of speedbumps and real hard at the entrance to the parking lot at work, so I switched.
