Steeda UDP squeeking
Steeda UDP squeeking
Ever since I put my UDP on my car, the alternator pulley has been squealing. It's annoying and I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem. It looks like the belt has I guess a hiccup when it goes around the alternator pulley. Suggestions?

When you look at it from the side of the car does it look like the belt is in good alignment? In a straight line?
why would he put a new bolt on the alt??? Oh ...you mean the mount bolt stud deal...yeah that would be bad...anyway...main reason for that squeek is gonna be not having the crank pulley pressed in far enuff...mine did it and also started jumping one rib on the pulley too...i cranked the pulley down another hair and it was fine...don't be afraid to snug it up good...
I don't want to be an alarmist but there were a very limited number (3 or 4 in over 1000 units sold by my supplier) of Steeda UPD crank pulley problems but the noise would come from the crank pulley as it begins to separate and causes the belt to wobble.
See pictures below...old pulley on the left, new pulley on the right in both pictures. But this would not be something you would notice immediately after install. This was after about 12,000 miles and a little over a year. My supplier replaced the pulley (I did labor) under warantee.
And I actually didn't do it myself. I had my car in for a number of installs so I had them through them on while they were down there.

It looks like it is tracking fine, but when I watch it from the side it's like there's a bit of slack, like a lip, when it goes around the alternator pulley. Someone told me it might need to be pushed on there a little bit more or that the belt needs to be changed.

From your discription I think I would pull the alternator pulley to see if it is seated correctly or is it possible there is a burr around a hole in the back of the pulley. I would focus my attention on that pulley first.
