I haven't gotten my car yet but when I drove the 05 GT 5-speed the first thing that I noticed was it was kind of hard to shift from 2nd to 3rd. I told myself that this was probably due to the fact that I hadn't driven a stick in a few years. I know there was a thread about the 2nd to 3rd shifting issue and was wondering if anyone has gone to the Steeda shifter or anything else?

Yep, I installed it a couple weeks after I purchased the05...the second to third shift almost feels spring loaded. Definetly a good mod

That is good news because I am expecting mine to arrive any day now. I thought it was just me because I haven't had a stick for quite a few years. I used to be ok at it but going from 2nd to 3rd in this car is a hit or miss thing. I have never been able to hit it power shifting.

I don't mind the stock shifter either. I'm having a hard time justifying the cost of the tri-ax.

If its like previous models the throw should be a whole whole lot shorter on the tri-ax. Anyone able to verify?

2k5pony, can you verify weather or not the shifter is nosier than stock? I have read some complaints about the 5 speed being rather noisy.

Yes, there is more noise transfer through the Steeda b/c it uses brass bushings to connect the bottom of the shifter to the shift linkage...small price to pay for an excellent shifter.

Tri-ax is awesome, I have owned other cars with a MAC shifter and a Pro 5.0 and this shifter takes them all. Given the actual mounting is different but the feel is identical with the end product. Slight increase in road noise through transmission but I haven't noticed since installing full length exhaust without cats/solid motor mounts.

I have the Steeda Triax installed. Excellent product. Smooth, shorter throw than stock, "toggle switch" is the best way to describe it. Makes the 2 - 3 shift very sweet. I've used many different stock and aftermarket shifters over the years, and this one is right there with the best of them.
Yes, it is noisier than the stock shifter, but you have to get rid of the rubber that is in the stock one to get those nice crisp shifts. It's worth it!
