dyno results help

ok so ive been looking at all these dyno results u guys have been posting...im new at all this technical mechanic stuff, but i dont get why ppl with GTs get there dyno results like 254.73 hp for example, when the GT is 300 hp. can someone explain this to me? im sorry if i sound like an idiot since im all new to this stuff. thanks, appreciate any help.

Most companies rate the HP at the crankshaft/flywheel because that number is higher. Dyno's measure at the wheels, unless you pull the engine and use a crank/flywheel dyno. The difference in HP is due to drivetrain loss.

300 hp is at the flywheel while 254.73 is the hp at the rear wheels. Manufacturers advertise hp at the flywheel while us end users are more concerned what hp is being applied to the asphalt. Most hp ratings at the flywheel from the manufacturer are underated for insurance purposes. You can roughly figure if it's 300 hp, there is a 15% loss once it gets to the rear wheels.
