Steeda cold air intake questions
I'm looking at buying the 555-3120 kit (no elbow kit) and wanted to know if it was a 90mm housing. It seems if I install just this cold air kit with the stock rubber elbow, I'd get the same setup as the Shelby GT - is this correct?
I also have the SCT Pro Racer Package. I could opt for an aftermarket tune, or even the canned Steeda tune, but I already have the SCT Pro Racer Package and just need the transfer function for the Steeda cold air kit. Does anyone know if the value file provided in the pro racer package is the correct one, or happen to have a Shelby GT with the Pro Racer Package and can share their transfer function?
Is the Steeda unit a high quality kit?

There should be a value file in the Pro Racer package for the intake which will be the 90mm file. That file will get you super close and you can find tune from there.
If its not in there I would be glad to send you that value file.
I have the Steeda kit and I could not be happier with it. I have seen great gains with the kit. It is a great quality piece and I have had no issues with it.
I made a couple calls to Steeda before ordering it and they were very helpful in regards to customer service. You not only get the kit, but you get a helpful team behind you!
It is a must buy!!

I installed my Steeda kit last weekend and have been using it. I noticed that the weatherstriping seal is pushing into my hood insulation just a tad in a few spots. The heat shield is about 1-2mm away from the ABS HCU electronic module but I can't seem to make it contact, so it should be ok?
It was difficult to slip the stock air hose over the 90mm MAF housing, but some WD40 helped out, sort of like swapping grips on my motorcycle.
Below 3000 RPM, nothing feels different. Above 3000 RPM, the engine comes alive. Even with the stock mufflers, the car always sounded aggressive outside. Now above 3000 RPM, it sounds alive.
I haven't tried driving it through the rain yet, it would be interesting to see what happens with heavy rain and flooded roads.
I didn't like how the plastic velocity stack doesn't have a gasket seal to the heat shield, so I used a tiny layer of RTV gasket for the outermost ring of the velocity stack and torqued the 4 housing bolts to about 7 ft-lb and used blue threadlocker.

Installing the 3120 intake kit on the stock inlet hose does require a little pushing as it is a tight fit. The weatherstrip seal is meant to push and seal, all is good there.
There was no need to add extra sealer to the velocity stack. Ford flowbenched this intake and found no air seepage there and approved the design so there is nothing to worry about there.
Good to hear you like the increase in performance. Enjoy!

Gus, thanks for the help. Steeda was the only manufacturer that really went the extra step to make sure I would be able to use the cold air intake with my SCT kit. Ford Racing basically told me to go pound sound or buy their tuner package.
I looked at Steeda's other products (control arms, sway bars, etc...) and would not hesitate going that route as the quality is noticeably better than the competition.

I have the Steeda CAI w/high flow tube, UDP, rear Lower control arms, 3rd link, panhard bar and ultralite lowering springs. Car was dyno tuned with Predator tuner. I am extremely happy with the performance and handling gains with the Steeda products. Car also has BBK TB and Bassini high flow catted x-pipe and axle-backs and CDC shaker hood..
