Drop In Air Filter For '05 GT & V6
To achieve more air flow we use more, deeper pleats per filter. Steeda Filters are manufactured using four layers of the highest quality cotton gauze. All of this adds up to more surface area per filter which means more air flow to the intake of the engine

hmm... so deeper pleats means more horsepower... I'm gonna design a 4 inch thick air filter and make millions!

Deeper pleats mean more surface area. They're not talking thickness of the material, but the height of the "zig zags" in the filter. I'm sure there's a diminishing return somewhere though, as in all other things.

sounds fishy to me. Wouldn't deeper pleats make it harder for the air to get through. Now, WIDER pleats would let air through easier IMO.

I'd say dump the restrictive airbox and go with one of the many open air cone filters instead, at some point anyway.....

Deeper pleats means more surface area so that equates to "less restrictive". Same results as a "cone" style K&N, MMR, C&L...well the dyno results will tell us that but I would think the answer is no because cone filters have greater surface area than a flat filter.
