Splice in X-pipe...will it make my car any louder?
Looking at a splice-in X-pipe but I want to know if it will make my car any louder. I'm not sure about an OR pipe 'cause of the strong raw fuel smell and emissions here in Cali.
I'm sure any performance gains are negligible but I just want it a little louder....

It all depends on what sound your looking for. If you want that deeper, muscle car rumble. I would highly recommend going with an off road H-pipe instead.
Although I have nothing personal against X-pipes, they're very well known for having slightly higher pitched exhaust tones, and also have a tendency of sounding more raspy and tinny.
At any rate, just my $.02

hmmm, I used to run an OR/H with Magnaflows on my '05, and it was freakin' loud and I loved it! But that fuel smell always worried me that some motor cop would pull up behind me and notice it, and running around without cats in So. Cal. is kinda risky.
I mean, the Violators sound great, but they are just a tad quiet inside the cabin. How about I just gut out my stock cats and buy a back-up factory H for 2014 smog time?

They'll quiet it down somewhat, but not really by that much. I've been running a Mac Prochamber w/ high-flow cats, and IMO. The Prochamber itself seems to quiet my car down more than the high-flow cats.

MRT has a good high-flow catted H, but just bear in mind, they are not cheap.
In the meantime, I've posted a direct link below, if your interested.
