Question Short throw shifters: Hurst vs. MGW

Well, it looks like my time frame to join the ranks of S197 are possibly starting sooner than I thought. This year the main concerns are changing the shifter to a short throw and possibly the exhaust. So, I have seen some users here with the MGW shifter. I was dead set on the Hurst due to height, reliability, reputation and....it's a HURST shifter. Now I am wondering what or if there is any thing to this MGW shifter?

I will do a little more research but just wanted some honest opinions. I know many have the Hurst shifter and more than likely I will stick with it but if there is something good I might be missing out on with the MGW, I wouldn't mind knowing.

Thanks!

Never tried the MGW but if I was buying today I would be looking at it. I like the hurst billet and at the time the MGW was considerably more money and I did not care for the handle options. They have a better looking one now although I haven't looked at really good picture of it. I'd say the Hurst works good but is noisy.

Btw, there are tons of threads on this and some actually got heated (Believe it or not).

MGW is going into my car. They guy installed it today while he finished up my gears. The MGW is very impressive. Its built very well and you can tell just by holding the thing in your hand. They guy that works on my car said they are top of the line. Best shifter you can buy.

I just installed my Hurst billet shifter and I am extremely happy with it There was a little bit of vibration and rattling at first, but that has all gone away with some neoprene isolaters that Hurst sent me. The newer kits should have these included already. The shift is very precise and short.

With MGW, I have heard a lot of good feedback. Either way you can't go wrong....though I do like the looks of the Hurst better

It seems this comes up every year or so. It's been hashed and rehashed around here since I've been here and it can be as contentious as the Civil War.

I've had both and while I liked the 'looks' of the Hurst (I had the competition) I very much prefer the MGW in every other way. You will get a lot of people that like each one but not many have ever tried or owned both for an extended period of time.

Hahaha. Well I didn't mean to bring up old news. I have read up on both and it seams like both are great so I will just have to see what I am finally in the mood for.

Didn't mean to bring around an old topic.

Actually I guess its cooled down a bit, because usually by now there would be a lot of MGW Rulz! or Hurst FTMFW! and that's about it.

I'll add MGW Rulz! I really like mine. Very well built and works great. The adjustability is a plus. You can adjust it to the feel and throw you prefer.

The handle has height adjustment and the lower linkage has adjustment for length of throw. The shorter the more effort and vice versa.
