SCT Tuner
Okay, let's say I want to get the SCT tuner before I get my car. I have to contact one of the companies that will also put a tune in it for me. Now, since I am poor enough, I would like to get the tuner before any other mod, that way I can just stop about a block from the dealer, and load the tune.
But, do I have to pay the $100 program charge after every mod? That sounds rediculous. I would hate to get a CAI and then 3 months later get headers and exhaust and have to dish out the money for another tune.
Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

The deal I have is a purchase for $375.00 for the X-calibrator and a PC cable. One tune is loaded into the unit and my salesperson will e-mail up to 3 other tunes for me as I add mods, I just let him know what I have done and he makes an adjustment based on other cars with the same or similar parts. After the 3 other tunes he will charge $25.00 per tune but tuning car yourself can be done with a computer and the Quicktune 2005 software available for free from SCT. If you don't know anything about adjusting timing/air-fuel ratios/and a little more than basic computing skills then leave the tuning to a shop.

That's a little better. Where did you order from?

If you have any questions call Ken, his number is on the website, they are called Apten Performance.
To be honest with you i wouldn't order a tuner from anyone. Just go to SCT's website and find a local dealer. The problem you will run into is that even if you tell the company you order from the future mods that you do to your car, every car is different. You will never be able to have someone dial in your car over the phone. To give you an example, I had a regular SCT tune uploaded and then modded my car. The mods I had done(charge motion plates, etc.) were something that only Steeda had worked with. Just today my tuner talked directly with Steeda to get the exact "fix" my car needed to adjust for the mods I have done. This is not something that can been sent to you via email. Go to a speed shop and do it right. I can turn a wrench, but the computers in the 05s are incredible. I thought my local tuner had every thing dialed in right but today my computer "caught up" with the tune and went into fail safe mode. My local tuner set up the a/f ratio correctly but other adjustments were necessary due to a sensor on the intake manifold being disconnected. My tuner is learning from my car just as much as I am b/c it is so new. Trust me, do it locally and you will find your car will get exactly what it needs
I forgot to mention my local shop only charged 325.00 for the excalibrator..no s/h etc

What sensor was un-pluged to cause the CPU to go into "failsafe" mode? Did it have to do with the charge motion plate's?

Yep, it sure did. I'm going back in this morning to try some more stuff. Steeda has a car with the exact same mods(except CAI is Steeda of course) and got 312 to the wheels. My tuner got some good info from SCT and Steeda and is just as curious as I am about my car. He is giving me free pulls today!!! Really great guy...
