Results: 1st time at the track

OK for you diehard veteran racers that read this, don't laugh or flame me too hard. Went to the track for the first time ever and ran my car today. Temperature was mid 70s with 53% humidity and about a 10mph crosswind. Here's the best I could do on my stock Pirellis, and full weight:

I couldn't launch hard at all- so I just slipped the clutch at the line. Everytime I shifted into 2nd, I would spin like a SOB. I never powershifted, only speedshifted. I need tires and practice. Overall it was a great time !

since you have about the same performance mods as me, you would be in the 12.7s if you had tires and would drop your 60' to low 1.7s

I still cant believe how well these cars run even on crappy tires and with just basic bolt ons.

Those are much better times than my first ones at the track. The stock pirellis aren't the grippiest tires for the 1/4 mile

Thanks for the feedback guys! You're right about the stock tires not hooking up well- but then again they did hook alittle better before the 4.10s.

Dustin, I couldn't weigh my car at the track but I would like to think that you're right- with better traction and more practice I should be able to get into the 12's. I think my 106mph reflects that. I may keep trying this year before they close the track at the end of October.

Tom all you need some ET street biasply tires on stock rims and get a 2-step program for your tuner and launch at 5500 and you will be in the 12.7 range.

Thanks- I'll talk to Brenspeed about the 2-step program. I'm looking at MT 26 X 11.5 X 17 ET Streets- they should fit fine on the stock 17" Bullitt wheels. I got 2 more weeks before the track closes for the year- I plan on going as much as I can to get more practice in.

Were you running at Raceway Park? If so that would account for some of your car's performance. It's only one of the best drag strips in the country.

YEah those are the tires I have, the M/T 3743 tires, don't get the radials, or 3743R, unless you plan on driving them on the street. The biasply tires don't last long on the street, too soft, but they are way lighter and are stickier. Change the tires at the track and chain your pirellis to a pole. Drop em down to 12 psi and launch at 5500, and try to do a decent burnout, you'll need the waterbox. With your mods you should get the same times as me
