I've noticed that people have been removing the hydrocarbon air filter when they install a K&N or Steeda air intake. I was wondering, will removing the hydrocarbon air filter without changing the air intake increase HP? Is this ok to do without changing any tuning? Just curious. I'm hoping some of the more knowledgeable TMSers will know.

its perfectly fine to remove the HC trap. You may see a 2-4 more Hp increase. Allthough Ford seems to not be placing them into the newer stangs so your 06 may not even have it in the first place.

Yeah, but you'll contribute to the destruction of our atmosphere.

Also monitor how your car idles before you pull it, that way you can compare how it idles afterwards. Some have reported a higher or rough idle... I have no problems.
