I was just wondering about the CAIs with funtional hood I want to know what everybody thinks. Would you get the K&N or others with the RKsport funtional hood or the Shaker from CDC. The Shaker seems to be cheaper to buy but will it need a tune. Will there be a HP diff.. between the too.

David,
IMO you add a shaker hood only for the looks and not any performance gain. I am almost positive no tune would be required for either the ram air hood or the shaker. Both may provide a better source of cooler air but you will gain little if any hp. But, from the looks stand point I'd go with the CDC shaker. I think that is awesome!!!!!!!!

JMO, but I think the CDC shaker is way to small for the stock hood, it looks out of place!

My CDC Shaker is due to arrive on Tuesday. I plan on integrating it to my CAI, but I don't expect hp gains from it. Just some additional cool air to the filter; and some cool in the looks-department, too!!

When there is a will, there is a way! Look at these two pictures... it may take a little creativity, but I think I can attach the piping from the scoop to the heat shield of the CAI.

I think it can be done also. I plan on ordering my shaker next week, but I haven't bought a CAI yet, because I was waiting to see which one would fit best. So any suggestions? I see Don has the C&L, anyone else planning on this with their CAI?

I plan on connecting mine to my MMR intake. Also, for those that think the shaker is for looks only, it has been proven to give you a 2-4% hp gain. So on a stock 300hp car that is 6-12 hp. Not bad for something that some think is just for show.

Extra hp would be a bonus for me... because I would do it just for the looks anyway.
