Proper wideband bung position and install?
Proper wideband bung position and install?
I'm not real keen on having an exhaust shop smoke a hole in my factory H pipe and weld a bung in place... mainly because I don't want a bunch of chips bouncing around between the cat and the engine, possibly winding up in the cylinder. People's cat's disintegrate and end up in the engine, why not metal filings? Am I being paranoid?
Also, I was reading in other threads the bung/plug/sensor should be installed between the 10 and 2 position on the pipe.
I'm thinking of removing the H pipe, plugging off the downstream side, drilling a hole in the proper location and having a stainless bung welded in place.
Does it matter which side I weld the bung on? I'm thinking the pass side would be easier to access to thread in the wideband sensor.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I spoke with the tuner on Friday, he said that the drivers side is where you want it since that bank can run a bit leaner... also anywhere above horizontal is ok. He said all you don't want is water condensing on the sensor, one drop of water can kill it.
