Hey folks,

Been having an annoying problem with my ProCharged Mustang. I'll be driving on the freeway or highway and after about 15-20 minutes of driving, the car will go into failsafe mode. I've hooked up a scanner to see if there are any codes, but there are none and everything is okay if I just cycle the key, but this isn't a good solution for me...

I notice it happens if I go a constant speed/rpm for a while and then accelerate, even if it's smoothly. 60mph @ 2000 rpm seems to be a safe engine speed but it makes getting anywhere a pain in the neck. The car does great around town and in traffic though.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Kris

Your not alone.Mine has been going on all the time lately.Everytime I do a burnout.Especialy at the track as i am heating up my slicks it goes into fail safe mode.I shut it off and restart and that clears it.If your on the highway and it happens put the car in neautral and shut off and restart.Clears it.

Mine is Supercharged as well but mine goes into fails safe when I try to resume the cruise control. It never goes into fail safe any other time. If I resume close to where it was set originally it is ok but if it needs to accelerate hard to get to the set speed that is where it has a problem.

I had the same problem but my issues went away with removing the wire tap that connects to the throttle body for WOT nitrous activation. For those of you with the S/C you might consider the possiblity that your throttle body and TPS are causing a problem with the computer feeling as if there is a condition it believes is a stuck throttle blade, in this circumstance the car will go into failsafe to prevent the car from accelerating out of control. There is a specific TSB from Ford on this matter and it might just pay off to look into it and see if your car requires the update Ford is performing to some 05's.
