You need a new tranny?????? I would be interested to hear why. I am in the process of replacing my clutch in my car because the stock one is shot. I replaced it with a ram clutch and boy is there WAY more surface area on the ram than the stock clutch. But I am trying to trouble shoot a transmission problem because Ford was giving me the run around saying my clutch was the problem and not my transmission. It grinds when you shift from 1st to 2nd. So let me know what is up with your trans.

what is this talk about shims???? What is that little plate that is sent with the ram clutch??? Also there is no replacement throwout bearing with the clutch. Not even the autoparts stores carry them yet. Are you supposed to put that shim behind the hydraulic assembly to push the plunger forward? These are all important questions i need answered asap because I still have yet to torque down the transmission bolts. I just dont want to have to bleed the clutch again. that was a pain in the a$$.

I found in this problem with several plates I have run and have personally seen it in other cars. What I found were the weights installed on the pressure plate diaphram fingers shifting off center and distorting the pressure plate diaphram spring. These pressure plates at least in my application are Valeo units so I called Valeo and spoke to a tech about them. He indicated that Valeo sold the plates to Midway Industries (owner ot the Centerforce brand) and that Midway installed the weight rings and painted the covers. I purchased a stock replacement Valeo plate and compared it to my "hi perf" Centerforce. The only noticable difference were the goofy weights which can never work IMHO and a crappy orange paint job. The Dual friction pressure plate, at least in GM 11" applications is nothing more than a stock replacement plate with a bad paint job, a cute little sticker, and some half-arsed weights that cause nothing but problems.

Their (Centerforce Dual Friction) disc on the other hand seems fine.

I'm just pissed at this company for passing off what is supposed to be some great clutch kit which under closer inspection is just some scamed up gimmicked-out stock pressure plate. BTW, their customer service is just like their pressure plates, suck!

Does this answer your question?
Thanks RPM. That does indeed answer the question.

I want to apologize if I came off abrasive. After my experience with this company and how they represent their products I tend get this way. Maybe Centerforce has a good clutch (that is a real performance product not a painted stock replacement) for our Mustangs but I would take any of their descriptions with a big grain of salt.

It is good to get as many comments as possible about a product. Good or bad. I have good with this one but now have that grain of salt before my next clutch purchase. It would be nice to hear from someone who has a 05-06 Centerforce. Because of your bad experience I will be looking at several options instead of one.

Thats awsome man!!!! I really need to get a new transmission. My 1st gear is shot and it grinds into 2nd and 3rd now. I will race prep the blocker rings in the trans if i can get ahold of a 3650. But I called Tremec and they said that they have 3650 parts on hold to all of their distributors because of the high demand for the transmissions from Ford. Their aftermarket has been put on the side a little bit because of this. I want to get a rebuild kit asap but I think i will have to live with the trans the way it is for about 3 - 4 more months if I cant find anyone with a used 3650.

Reviving old thread:

I'm getting a Spec Stage 3+ with Fidanza AL flywheel, this is good to hear.
