mine turns about 2900 at 80mph....about 2000at 60mph.....i can live with both for the performance I gained from 0-60....3k rpm is a tad noisy on long trips for extended periods. For owners driving multiple hours every day I would probably suggest the 3.90's as a nice in between alternative....I do very little freeway driving so the 4.10's work well for me..

Soory to ask, but what would be the reason to swap the gears. Better acceleration?? Top speed?? I'm sorry, but I'm totally ignorant to this. Any help would be appreciated. Also, are there any risks you run??

I paid $360 for the install (labor only).
I supplied the ring & pinion and the gear lube.
My gears are 3.90 Motive (not FRPP).
The gear whine is still there but it's not very loud. It only happens when slowing down. It doesn't bother me. There's no chattering or other unusual noises. I'm happy with the gears and the installation.

Thanks a lot for the info.
By the way, is there any word on the GT or 350Z?
I would definately have to be partial to the GT.

Higher ratio gears means faster acceleration, but a lower top-end than low ratio gears, low ratio gears won't accelerate as faster as high ratio gears but have a higher top end than high ratio gears...get it? Depends on what brand you get, if you get anything other than FRPP you may get gear whine, although i'm sure some FRPP owners have had gear whine too. Motive Performance Plus gears seem pretty good compared to FRPP.

May I ask what you paid for the FRPP gears to be installed?
lordbritish, sorry for the thread hi-jack.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I meant swingle, that's why I said "Sorry for the thread hi-jack"
I'll PM him.
How much do you think the install would have been if you were in a normal install cost area? Thanks for chiming in on the gear whine.

Sorry for the delay....I paid 500 for everything out the door. Included the FRPP 4.10's, install, and taxes. Installer said he did have to use some shims too....not too bad...What a difference they made in the first 3 gears....It's like a whole different car...Good luck with yours nis350ztt..

Same with me - I plan on taking long trips in this GT and don' want to compromise the freeway drivability too much. Can anyone tell me the increase in RPM's at 80mph stock vs 4.10's - there must be a formula for this?
