OIL PROBLEM
Ok here is an other oil problem again. Being overseas, the only 5W-20 oil that meets the manufacturers standards of FORD WSS-M2C930-A that I can purchase on base is CASTROL SYNTEC. I looked at all the oil they had and this is the only one with the requirements the manual says. I heard that people are using Mobile 1 5W-20, but all they have is 5W-30. They do have royal purple 5W-20 on the shelf, it says that it meets ford standards for the years of 2001 and above, but the speck number is not the same as the maual (its close but off by a few numbers). So should I go ahead and change the oil with the CASTROL of just order the oil that is in the manual for now
Well hope someone on here has a few ideas. thanks

Castrol 5W20 is fine, the information concerning the Ford Spec may jus be a bit out of date. I do not believe that Ford Europe uses 5W20 in any of their vehicles, although I could be mistaken. In any event you may want to check and see if a local Ford dealer carries it in stock.

I agree about the Castrol. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the spec being out of date. The spec he quoted is the for the '05 Mustang not for any Euro Fords. Maybe I just didn't understand?

What I meant is it is possible (but not definite) that the spec may have been updated between 2001 and now. Just speculation, nothing more.

thanks guys, the oil speck that was not matching was the Royal Purple, any more insights on that oil would be great! Oh and I'm going to change the oil soon, i can go strait to the Castrol Syntec right away right? Thats all that is available here that matches. thanks everyone
I used Castrol Syntec after the break-in period in my previous ride exclusively ever since I purchased it new. It has 222k on it right now and still get's 35 mpg, barks third and uses less than 1/2 qt every 2k mi. Too bad I need to sell it to a buddy of mine to recoupe some of the GT expenditure or I'd keep it.
It's good stuff IMO.
