Thumbs up

Aite.. i have asked this question before but not on this forum. I can launch my car to a degree.. but not with much consistency.. I blame this on my feet as im holding the accelerator to around 2500 rpms and then drop the clutch I know that my quickness/slowness of hitting the accelerator may be my issue. So im just asking if you guys have a detailed description on how you move your feet to launch the car and what rpms its done at since that makes a difference if you decide to not sidestep it but feather it.

Thanks

How fast are you letting the clutch out, and how fast do you want to launch?

At a light to launch, heres the motions I do....

-clutch in, shift to first

-let clutch out almost to the sweetspot (the point in which is about halfway up travel..where the clutch starts to make contact)

-start giving it gas (1500-2000RPM)

-SMOOTHLY/SLOWLY let the clutch out while continuing to give it gas

-as the clutch is completely connected (foot off) apply more and more gas

Sounds long, but its all one SMOOTH motion...
Smoothness is the key....
Too fast you will bog
not enough, you will stall

Launching and the 1-2 shift are the hardest to make smooth....
...oh...and if you think you are going slow, and it still happens...go slower

One other tip...
****
I always have my heels on the mat, some guys I know don't...they shift with their left leg hanging freely. To me this really messes up my shift, because with my leg just hanging there, I'm not smooth.
I use my heel and let the clutch slide off my foot as I just lift the ball of my foot...as my heel stays planted.

Maybe that would help.

I can take off slowly and normally with smoothness... its more about the fastest launch I can get w/o too much wheel spin or bogging.

Like a hard launch?

Again same thing, but speed it up.

2200-2500 is a nice launch that shouldn't give you more than a chirp, if you give it the right amount of gas...

If you are spinning your wheels (rolling burnout) you're applying too much gas. Its that balance of gas...too much (spin) not enough (bog)

For me, hard launches on most surfaces (read: slippery) require slipping the clutch a bit. With 4.10's and 255/50's, it's just not a fair fight.

Boomer's right. 2000-2500 with a chirp and then full throttle gets me the quickest holeshot. Tire spin = lost time. I'm having more trouble on the 1-2 shift trying not to swap ends. Forget lost time, I'm just trying not to wreck! On asphalt surfaces I can't grab 2nd gear without making sure I'm in the right lane. That's because my rear end is in the left lane.

okay so ive tried this .. but let me review.
1)hold revs at 2500 rpms.
2)bring clutch up right next to grabbing point
3)pop clutch out? or ride it out?
4)now throttle is the issue here if i hit it too early it will spin too much but if hit it toolate its gonna bog

im guessing its gonna be some simulatneous action of one foot coming up and the other going down but i could be wrong.

I try not to pop/dump the clutch....its a fast/accurate/smooth transition

Its hard to describe other than a smooth fast transition
Its more of a practice thing...

Its easier to do than explain....but yes, you have the right idea, now just apply it.
Practice Practice Practice.

I always launch at 2000-2500 so I have a lot of practice with it...
The only thing is..I don't GUN it outta the hole...
Practice this technique at the light

Once you get the launch sequence down the rest is easy...
well... easier
