OEM brake pad alignment

OK I was cleaning my brake calipers today and I got overzealous with the wired toothbrush and accidently had some of the bristles brush the top of the brake pad. Consequently it has made it somewhat cosmetically less pleasing to the eye.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the inside pad on the outside and vice versa? I am being picky here as my stang is primarily a show car stang. Would not care so much if it happened to one of my other cars.

Wink

You are crazy.
However, don't switch them once they have seated originally.
If you are that crazy, buy new ones and do both sides and both wheels.
They aren't that expensive and it ain't that hard to do.

Hi Karman,

Yes, I am a bit crazy or perhaps just a rookie to DIY. It makes a lot of sense to replace them as you say they are seated right now.

Do you know of any DIY for the front brake pads online? I have seen one on American Muscle and want to look at more before I consider doing it myself.

So far I have been able to do most of my mods myself (i.e. mufflers, h pipe, shifter, grille, pullies, lowering springs etc.).

For this job it sounds like I will also need a 4 inch C clamp??

Cool You sure you want to bother with this?

I looked at that AM pdf and I did not like the way they used the C-clamp.
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/musta...ad-install.pdf
If it slips you can damage the rubber. They are also pushing against the edge of the piston which can cause it to go a little sideways into the cylinder (not sure how bad that is, but it doesn't seem good).
I always put the old brake pad against the pistons like it would normally be to prevent any damage from the pressure device (c-clamp in this case).
With dual pistons, that also allows you to compress both evenly at the same time (with c-clamps, use 2 clamps and turn both evenly and slowly to do it perfectly).
I don't usually use clamps, but I also don't want to confuse you.
I did my first front disc change when most cars didn't have them.
.
The up side to this exercise would be that you can clean the calipers easier when they are hanging up by that Strong Wire (please don't let them fall down).

Rotors too huh?
You are crazy.
But I suppose yours have rust on them, unlike my GT.

No, I have currently got the stock rotors. I want the cool cross drilled/slotted rotors.
