Yes.
Back of the A-arms connect at the back of the K-member.
Hope that explains it.

the bmr ones say to torque them down to 140 ft/lbs. not sure if it is the same specs as the frpp one or not. should be though, huh?

I torqued the nuts to 46 ft-lb. I checked the 2005-2007 FSM and although there is a diagram that SHOWS the brace, the FSM does not acknowledge its existence. Based on the size of the threads, I determined that 40-50 ft-lb is a good value.

metroplex, does the frpp one mount to the a-arm mounting bolt like the bmr one or the rear flange bolt?

the che one has a 4 point brace and bolts up to both. i am assuming it does basically the same thing... i could be wrong. for the control arm mounting bolt (vertical bolt where the bmr one mounts), it says to torque to 129 ft/lbs. for the flange bolt (horizontal bolt) it says 30-45 ft/lbs.

based on your findings, i would guess that the frpp one just bolts to the horizontal flange bolts then? idk.

here is the link i found about that. http://www.cheperformance.com//instr...7K/CHE7K.html#

never mind... looking at your pic again, it is easy to see that it mounts to the horizontal ones. so, yeah you torqued them correcty. should be 30-45 ft/lbs.

it would seem that the bmr and che have chosen stronger mounts for the brace, but i guess as long as the frpp one does the job, it is all good.

OK, it's in! Torqued to 45 ft-lbs on all 4 bolts.

Took about an hour, including bleeding the front brakes while I had the car up. This could be installed in 10 mins w/ a lift.

FYI for the mechanically challenged, the bolts should be facing the rear of the car--the brace can be put in both ways, but you'll notice it doesn't mate properly with the A-Arm flanges if you try to put the bolts in facing forward.

The FRPP brace IS the OEM/Ford brace used on the GT500, all convertibles, and every 08-up Mustang. The CHE looks like a solid design but seems heavy and unnecessary. You're trying to prevent the cross-member and chassis from flexing, not the A-arm. My gripe with the Granatelli/BMR design that bolts to the control arm bushing bolts is that it relies on the threaded portion of the bolts for support, and those are the weakest links in any type of fastening system. The OEM design spreads the load between two studs per side, and is mounted in an area that would be the most effective IMHO. I'm sure that if the OEM design would fail a finite-element analysis (FEA) they wouldn't have used it on the 500 hp GT500. It was about $50, less than an hour of my time to install, so overall I see a lot of value in the FRPP/OEM brace as it doesn't add a lot of weight to the front end.

OK, so does the brace bolt to the front of the tabs (closest to engine) or to the back of the tabs (closest to the transmission)? Just curious, but does anyone have a pic of what a factory installed brace looks with regards to which side of the tabs bolt to as well as what side the nut goes on? TIA.

Since the earliest 2005 Mustangs came out in 2004, I'd say that the ones made in 2004 may not have the flanges.

Here's the diagram from the 2007 FSM. I searched high and low, the FSM just does not acknowledge the existence of this brace. It was used on 05-up convertibles and the 07 GT500 so the brace isn't brand new for 2007. It even carried a 2004 part number!

The studs face the transmission.

Wow, thanks. That is exactly what I was looking for. Now if only the FSM had the torque specs.

I looked for that but couldn't find anything official. I torqued the nuts to 46 ft-lb, but I suspect 40-45 ft-lb will suffice.

I just noticed one of those braces on my wife's 2007 GT vert. My 2007 GT Coupe didn't have one, so I went with the CHE one.

I called the Ford Tech Hotline today to get the torque specs. They didnt have the torque specs on hand, so they sent an email to the design engineer to get the official torque specs. I will post the specs as soon as I get them.
