Octane and oil questions!
#22
Good to read that the Mustang's knock sensors enable the ECU to actually adjust timing in response to higher octane fuel. In the past, the knock sensors would advise the ECU to increase spark advance until the knock stopped, then return to preset timing.
However, if you decide to use fuel rated above 87 octane (with or without retune) I encourage you to pull your plugs every few thousand miles and check the plugs to confirm your not running too rich.
Also, there are several reasons most manufacturers are recommending 5W-30 and 5W-20 motor oils in todays cars: 1 - much closer tolerances on crank bearings, 2 - newer heat tolerant materials, 3 - thinner oil = better fuel economy.

Thanks eveyone for your input I appreciate it alot. It is always nice to come here and have peoples' opinions on various subjects. It seems that there is always someone out there who knows a little bit than we do.
I shall be in the Fort Lauderdale area at the end of April and I know that every friday night there is a meet in Boca Raton. So if any of you guys wanna meet a neighbor from north of the border who share the same passion for Mustangs, let me know.
