Which no tune CAI is better?
The GMS no tune intake has seen AFRs in the 17s up top end for their no tune option. That's MORE than detrementally lean. Just my own personal opinion... the only no-tune I would trust is C&L, end of story. In that situation, it doesn't cost a dime to take out the insert, and run a tune. Just my 2 cents...

There's really little difference between the Airaid and new C&L no-tune sleeve option as both use similar sleeve devices which can be installed and removed from their MAF housing's..
So, what exactly is the deal with this "C&L Trueflow Intake Kit "No Tuner Option" 2005-07 Mustang GT"? What makes it different from the other C&L CAI that it doesn't require a tune(immediatly?).
Just curious... Cause it really works out nice if your someone like me who isn't interested in a tune for warrenty issues but eventually has the option once the warrenty is up to get the tune.
hmm...

Here's why...it's because the re-calibrated MAF and jumper harness will not function properly with the SCT X-CAL II nor Diablosport tuner because the tuning files programmed by Bamachips and Brenspeed are based upon the factory MAF calibration settings only.. Plus the majority of most TMS members also happen to be Brenspeed and Bamachips customers..

It uses a similar venturi tube found in the Airaid CAI which reduces the MAF housing size indentical to the stock intake tube for those who don't wish to re-flash for warranty reasons but also provides the option to remove it for those who eventually plan on tuning upgrades..
Thats what I'll most likely end up doing. Maybe for the fall/late summer project. Thanks again

Well, here was my experience with the GMS W\MAF. I bought the GMS W\MAF and ran it for a few months without a tune. Never once did I get a check light and it ran good. I then decided to go with a Brenspeed Tune and with the recommendation from Brenspeed I was to use the stock MAF with the CAI while running the Brenspeed Tune. Which I did. I then took the car to get Dyno'd and with the Brenspeed Tune and the Stock MAF the car was running 16's for the Air Fuel. So, I had it dyno tune to run a better Air Fuel ratio. So, the bottom line is to always check the car on a dyno to make sure it is correct. The reason that Brenspeed tune may be off was the Ethanol that is mixed within the fuel, at least that is what I was told. Get it checked on a dyno!! Be safe.

It does have the insert just like the AirAid. They're very similar in design throughout the whole intake. I'm just not a fan of AirAid's products in the past. Maybe they have improved over the last year or two, but they've been lacking in the past. I haven't ever had to run across the intake for the S197 so far. It's actually the only one we haven't had to install or tune. I am a personal fan of the performance of C&L along with Lee (the owner)'s honesty, knowledge, R&D, and customer service.

Well if I were to buy a no tune intake at this point I would have to say try the c&l with special insert. They have taken the time to make a good intake first, then modify the insert to make the air flow same as factory at the maf point, so as far as functionality, this makes sense to me, more so than changing maf and a jumper harness etc. This is straight forward thinking which should give you straightforward results using stock maf, and no computer changes so much easier to change out etc. I was witness to the item being tested and dynod' it did look like a quality piece and did what it was supposed to do. without a tune. So Just my 2 cents, I think the c&l is the safest no tune bet or possibly air raid since they are basically doing the same thing, size of insert etc to mimic factory air intake air flow.
