Removal of the stock cats seems to be a common denominator. And I'll be curious to see how you're going to get the stock cats to work with LTs.

Don I'll admit I've done zero research into the issue, and maybe I'm being a bit naive in thinking that a muffler shop can just cut/weld the cats in front of my ProChamber? That's what I love about this board and a majority of the folks on here - always looking to help one another out

Once LT's are in, it's pretty tight under there. Even if you could squeeze the stock cats in, they would probably hang pretty low (they are frikkin huge compared to hi-flow cats). Here are a couple pics I took when I had the LTs, hiflow cats, and a piece of the stock H-pipe still in (I have since removed the H, and put in an X).

okay...I've soaked in all the information on this thread, but I'm still not sure of the answer....

I have the dreaded trumpeting with stock headers, Pypes O/R X pipe and Mac axlebacks....from what many of you have said, removal of the cats is the reason for the trumpeting...and switching from an X to an H is still not the answer...I'd be willing to sacrifice a little sound volume to get rid of this darn ricey trumpeting..

is it possible to chop the X and weld in some high-flow cats? And if so, any recommendations?

yes, but I wouldnt weld them. I am looking at the SLP cats at LMperformance.com, and I plan to cut and clamp. I was told by several muffler shops, that if you weld, and dont add hangers, you risk breakage. Sounded like BS to me, but either way, I dont want them near my car, they are all butchers, so I am going to sawzall my H pipe, and clamp the cats on. i might also get a shop to make me some off road legs that I can clamp back in if I want.

Basanni cats kill the trumpeting forsure, SurfnSoCal said that in his threads, but they are $150 a piece. the SLPs have about the same flow and are the same size and are only $190 for both, so I hope they work as well.

are there any numbers on how well they flow? we want something that flows worse than dynatech, better than stock, and close to bassani, lol.

ok sorry, hadnt clicked the link yet. and wtf, 50 state legal? that makes no sense. maybe legal as a pre cat?

Are there actual flow numbers for stock, bassani and dynatech?

Probably EPA approved as an aftermarket cat??

I think donny blew his engine on purpose so he could build a new one to combat the trumpets

the one on the RPM outlet site, next to the pypes one, the one with the numbers, is the dynatech. that pic is straight off their site. I havent been able to find bassani numbers, but the SLPs are almost the exact same size and same materiels inside as the bassani.... they are so similar, I think they are almost identical. and I know the bassanis will cut the trumpeting out. So tomorrow I will call pypes and see how they flow. Being 50 state legal is hard to believe, but would be really great for me!

LOL... I had the trumpets under control before the grenade. BTW, there is pretty good chance that exhaust cutouts will be in my system when it all goes back together.
