Need to take the next step: S/C
Hello,
I need all you guys help.I have a 05 Mustang GT. Got some after market parts imported from USA. I live in Mucat Oman which is in the arabian gulf near dubai. We do not get after market parts here, so I imported 20 inch wheels, C&L and predator combo, Flowmaster exhaust and a few other things. I now need to get some power mods. I need to install a supercharger, preferabally the Kenne Bell, for which i have heard good reviews. I would really appreciate it if you guys can guide me in the right direction. What other uprades would I need to do on the car, I mean suspension mods, brakes and others. I need to buy all these things in one go, as the freight charges from the USA are very expensive. So i need to make a list of all that I would need and get them all in one shipment. I have read things like camber adjusters, lower arm etc, not sure what all these things will do, but if it is absolutely necessary than I might as well get them. I want to use the car on the street as we do not have dedicated tracks here. I would really appreciate any guidance you guys can give. Regards, Najeeb
PS: You can see my car at http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?sh...34659&hl=najeeb

Ok Najeeb, a bit of a tall order but here goes with my opinion to make life easy for yourself. First, take a look at all of the supercharger posts (there's lots) by doing the "search" in the performance mods section. Keywords would be Saleen, Kenne Bell, Roushcharger, Whipple, Vortech, Paxton, Procharger and a few others. Decide what you want - streetable power or 1/4 mile power. For streetable, you've chosen a roots/screw type which is best IMO. I went with Roush but that was a personal choice. Most of the roots/screw types put out the same power when they're stock, out of the box. If you start changing the pulleys or the tunes, the power goes up. Anyways, there's a ton of S/C stuff out there so I won't go on.
Next, for your suspension, again you have the opportunity to make your life easy and relatively cheap by going with the Ford Racing suspension package (Part # M-2005-FR3). It contains all of the goodies you need to lower it and beef up the handling. To be on the safe side, order a set of camber plates if your front end ends up being out of whack but most people on the site haven't had to use camber plates (search "Ford Racing suspension, lowering springs, Steeda Springs, Eibach Springs" in the performance mods section for more info).
Right now my car's lowered with a set of Steeda springs but I don't like them, a little too rough around the edges for my taste. But it didn't need a camber adjustment, most don't as I said above. The FRP kit is being installed next week so I'll post how it turns out and whether or not the camber kit is required for it. But I doubt it. What you will need that's not included in the kit is an adjustable Panhard Bar. When you lower the car the fixed panhard bar from Ford will have no alternative but to push your live axle to the left (driver's side), so your left rear wheel will be sticking out and the right rear will be noticeably "inside" of the wheel well. So the adjustable panhard bar is a must, it allows you to bring the rear end back into perfect alignment. I have a Steeda and it's just fine, not alot of money. BMR is another decent brand. There's lots out there, your choice as to which one you pick.
As for LCA's (lower control arms), Panhard Bar braces, frame bracing and all that other crap, unless you're planning on doing a bunch of 1/4 mile runs or road racing, don't waste you money.
That's about it, just 2 things to buy and ship. You'll no doubt get some other opinions but if the street's all you got, then this is all you'll need.
Finally, seeing as I'm never likely to pass by 'ya on the road, I'll give you the on your car. It's beautiful, nice and clean and subdued, nicest white one I've seen..... so don't be tempted to junk it up.
Hope that helps, Mark

Maybe you would do best if you contacted JDM and bought one of their complete Saleen packages. Bigger MAF, injectors, pumps, etc. This way you could get it all in one box from a company that knows the parts all go together.

For someone overseas, I don't think JDM would be a good choice. If you need any tuning changes, you have to ship your tuner back-and-forth to them.
BTW, the Kenne Bell is a 100% complete kit... nothing else needed.

najeeb, the only problem u'll face with the hole tunning stuff comes with the Supercharge..
because i had alot of problems facing flash tunning. bought some flash chips and it didnt work. because our computers coding are diffrent from the comtures over the USA.
or if u really want to get KB or a turbo charger go with motec and do a custum tunning. thought that we only have motec custume tunning..

Najeeb, the new Mustang has a great Chasis, and Steeda does make triangulated subframe connectors that have improved my street bounce in conjuntion with the Billitt Lower control arms that do put the horses down more efficiently on the street, and reduce wheel bounce when accelerating over uneven payvment. I know the roads there must be awful ruff like here in LA (older areas). Anything that stiffens the Chasis and reduces sway and flex will give you far supereior street handling and cornering, as well as rear wheel horse tranfer. Assuming you have well balanced performance springs, shocks, and struts, swaybars/brackets and adjustable pan hard bar. I think the Ford kit is a good Idea with the suggestions that Original Sin made.
I do feel though, that I have seen a large improvements on the street handling from the above mentioned items. I have paid strict attention between add ons over the last 6 months, and tested my car over the same steets and corners, and reducing chasis flex, suspension roll and flex. and tranfering that engine HP to the rear wheels, and keeping them on the payvement has made an amazing tranformation from stock to the max potential of this car. Adding a Strut tower brace, shock tower brace, G-Track bar, Panhard Bar Brace, and drivetrain loop are additives that together with the other items mentioned above, collectivley make the car steer and corner so much better and faster than stock, that with wide enough quality tires, and a lowered center of gravity from your springs, your car is far more handle worthy than any stock car out there unless you are talking about a race specific import that starts at at least 65-70 grand. For about $3,200 you can have a race car suspension, even though the correct springs, shocks, and struts, will still make the ride a stiff but smooth experience. Let the springs, shocks, and struts absorb the up and down bumps, while the other components allow you to have no sway and flex when you corner hard, and go over uneven payvment. That puts the power down to the rear wheels where it belongs. If money is no issue, than go nuts. Good luck with the power issues, that seems to be a very open subject with all the choices. Erik
