Use the K&N Recharger kit.

Mine came with a K&N filter, so the Recharge Kit worked fine. Besides, at $50.00 for a replacement, recharging is the best bet!

You should be able to "recharge them". My shaker came with an S&B filter, but it looks just like a K&N, and they have a million mile warranty. So you should be able to clean it a time or two before you need a new one.

No you should be cleaning it at a minimum once a year. Just because it lasts a million miles, that dont mean it doesnt get dirty

I clean mine every 3 oil changes, or that's the plan. I live in a very dusty climate, however.
