Well one of two things are absent. Spark, or fuel. I'm not familiar with chevy stuff but the basic principles apply. If you have no spark then you have to troubleshoot the possible areas that would cause this. If its fuel then troubleshoot those areas.

Fuel pump is dead. got a rubber mallot? have someone bang on the gas tank as you crank er over. Might get it started so you can drive to get it fixed, vs towing.

I could be wrong of course, nothing like over the counter diagnostics, lol.

But they are very common problems in alot of GM's. The suburban is one of them.

Expect to pay 600-900 bucks, delco pumps are not cheap and its a fuel pump module, not just a measley pump.

Lol, see what I mean about a common problem. We've had the best luck using the O.E pump vs an aftermarket tho. Those kinda jobs suck to do it twice.

I think the problem lies in the engine compartment. The distributor is in the rear of the engine, and it should be in front. Get that changed asap and your problems will disappear.

Have you changed the fuel filter, it's on the inside of the frame rail under the drivers door. Very easy to change. I used to own a '90 C1500 as a beater and had replaced just about everything on it. My fix for the spark problem was to install a MSD ignition and new plugs and wires. It made the truck run alot better.
