Question MGW SHIFTER ISSUE, NEED ASSISTANCE PLEASE.

No real biggie I guess but I figured I would ask you all.
I have the shifter in the car as of 3 weeks ago. turned the setting to the 7 turns position. I seem to be missing 2nd and 3rd seems a little hard to fast throw the shifter. Is something not right with my setting of 7 turns out???

Any help is appreciated

number 1 check the piece that says MGW made in the USA on it is all the way tight (the part with the allen head bolts and the side that the shaft with your shift **** is on) I was having the same issue as you and it turns out when i was trying to shift to second fast, the shaft was rotating inside that piece causing me to miss 2nd....and 2 if that doesnt work or isnt the problem, you could turn that same piece counter clockwise a bit to put more leverage into hitting second.....but be careful with that as it is easy to wear a hole in your shift-boot if you do it too much. Good luck!

I have mine adjusted to 10 turns and the handle as high as it will go and it shifts like butter.
p.s.
This transmission needs a few thousand miles to break in. What is your mileage?

3750 is pretty low. These transmissions seem to get better with age. Just an idea.

Make sure the arrow is pointed to the driver's side on the adjustable piece on the bottom of the shifter. Also make sure everything is tight. Just go over the obvious stuff.

Thank god, with 5 miles on the car it was a little notchy for me, only at 830 now but I can tell a little bit of a difference. Put 4.10's in today and that made driving smoother overall.

The shorter the throw the harder it is to get into gears, i.e., 3rd. Start turning it down one turn at a time, i.e., 6, 5, 4, etc., until you find a setting you like. The 2nd gear miss is going to take some getting used to pulling the handle to the left as not to go into 4th gear.

Personally I got tired of it and went back to a Pro 5.0.

I have my MGW at 10 turns out and the handle as low as it will go. For the first week, it took some getting used to and my elbow actually seemed to be getting sore. I got underneath again to consider changing it to only 8 turns out but in the process I found the front shifter bolt (or is it a nut) to be loose. I used some lock-tight and tightened it up, didn't drive it for two days and the following week it felt fine. No more sore elbow.

1st to 2nd and reverse were the hardest to get used to. 2nd to 3rd is a no brainer with this MGW due to the shifter's spring assist. Can't see how it would be possible to miss the 2-3 shift ever with this shifter regardless of the short throw.

Heck, at the dragstrip, for the 2-3 shift, I just push straight forward and let the springs do the work to find the gate...never had a problem!
