While I have not had the chance to get the springs in my 05 yet, I do have quite a bit of experience with lowering pre 2005 cars. When lowering a 93 and down car you would introduce quite a bit of bump steer into the car. Not enough to make it dangerous, but enough to make it wander a little bit when the front end was unloaded. In 1994 they changed the relationship of the steering rack to the control arm enough to where there was quite a bit less bump steer when lowered. Not enough to really worry about it. I would say of the 30 or so sets of springs I have installed, I have probably only installed 3 or 4 bump steer kits. A bump steer kit is just a longer bolt with some spacers to space the tie rod end down from the control arm. The 2005 when lowered will probably affect the bump a little but probably not enough to get concerned about. That is unless you are pulling the wheels on launch...

I will post info and pics when I lower my car. As well as alignment specs that we settle on. I will be using the Eibach springs as I have always liked their springs in the past.

If you look closely at the '05 front suspension, you will notice that the tie-rods and lower control arm are the same length, and parallel to each other. This is a great design that minimizes bump steer throughout the wheel travel. Moderate lowering will not change this important relationship, but Steedas' aftermarket balljoints and bump steer kits WILL change the parallel relationship.

Like the man said..."sometimes you have to do your own engineering".

The two bottom holes on the struts are not slotted.

Thanks, Andy. That's good to hear (some GM struts use slotted holes). It also re-inforces my point that the stock camber is NOT adjustable.

I talked to Eibach today. They said the Sport Line springs would be late Jan. before available.

Anything more than an inch of lowering on these new cars may be too much. They are not as high up as the 99-04 cars, and you maye end up with rubbing/scraping issues. Plus your suspension geometry will be more off the more you lower.
