Has anyone installed lowering springs in an '05 GT? My new GT and Eibach Pro-line springs should arrive at about the same time.

Why do you like the Eibach? Why not Steeda?

Eibach shows 1.4" front, 1.7" rear. Steeda says 1" f&r. Eibach also says you can stay with stock shocks & struts with their Pro-Line.

I have the steeda lowering springs. They ride great good improvement and exactly 1 inch front 1 1/8 in rear. The only problem right now is the front springs are being recalled. no safety issues, they just make a popping/rubbing sound. They said they will, send out another set in about 2 weeks.

I have heard good things about Vogtland springs 1-1/2 lowered all the way around. I know Nascar uses them, so they must be pretty decent. 201.95$

I have been talking to Eibach for weeks now. The Sport springs 30% will be ready for shipment in Jan. if there are no problems with manufacturing. The Sport springs will lower a little more than the Pro Kit 15%. I will wait on the Sport spring. I have had the Sport on other Mustangs and loved them. Cornering is undelievable, but if you run over a dime you can tell if it's heads or tails.

I am getting the Eibach ProKit myself. Does anyone know how hard it would be to install all of the springs in my driveway? I would probably have to take the front coilovers to a shop who has a spring compressor, but the rest I think could be done without too much trouble. What is everyone's opinion? Let me know.

Lets hear from some gearheads. I know there are a lot of issues when lowering a car that far. Is the 05 handling these drops better than prior models?

Exactly.....I've heard lowering the car could have adverse affects as well. Definately need an alignment.

I'm not planning on lowering the car. Sits pretty good and it was engineered to work at that ride height.

Plus, its going to be hard enough getting over those high speed bumps as it is.

And what are the plans here to correct pinion angle? Otherwise traction will be less.

i thought about lowering my 05, but only if (and after) i purchased larger tires. like stepping up to a 275/45r18. something like that. only to keep the ride height was it is basically at stock.

i like the way the car sits, you don't have to fall in to it, or climb out of it. i'll wait for the reviews as well.

Pinion angle should be OK with the multi-link setup. Toe should be re-set, camber & caster won't change with the front struts.

If your Shade-Tree card is current, you can rent an external spring compressor to do both ends. Rears are easy. Keep track of the upper strut hiney'y order.

I have decided not to lower this car. I have lowered a few in the past and raised my Jeep. All were a pain. Problems with clicks, pops etc. My main reason is, as some have already stated, I don't want to feel every bump and crack in the road.

I have heard lowering your car will also cause the "pogo effect" if you don't also replace shocks and struts.

you can correct the geometry when you lower a car, but just a spring kit won't do it. Adjusting the toe angle isn't really a solution either. When the spring compresses, it's going to point your tire in a different direction because the steering arm was designed for a certain ride height. You have to offset that. In the past Saleen sold offset aluminum rack bushings, as well as camber/caster plates.
My '88 was lowered by 1.5" and it was only springs. That thing got seriously outhandled by Fox Mustangs that were at stock height, the ride stinked and it chopped up tires like you wouldn't believe.
I plan on lowering my '05 when I get it, but I'm going to make sure that I spare no expense doing it right.

Saleen used to use Eibach springs, by the way... I'm not sure if they still do or not.

i have lowered my 05' it took 45 min for the back two. The struts are way earsier than my past 1990 mustang. Just rent a tool at pepboys(free). Pull the strut out as one unit and do all the work outside of the car. fronts took about 1 1/2 for both. The great thing about the 05 is my hand didn't get greasy or grimey and all the bolt came of with ease. Handles great and look way better with just a 1" all the way around.
