I keep seeing brake fluid leaking from my brake fluid reservoir.Keep whiping it,but always comes back.Tried tightening cover but still appears.cover is leaking.
I noticed the same thing, car only has 200 miles on it. The brake reservoir is over full, so that is part of the problem, but the fluid shouldn't be leaking out of a sealed container. I think I'll wrap some tape around the inlet, and re instal the cap, see if that tightens it up enough. Can't believe I'm "rigging up" a new car.

I had the same problem and here is how I stopped it. I have lots of junk around for 'fixing' things, so I took an old bicycle innertube and cut a piece the same size as the inside of the cap. I also cut a small "X" in the middle of the rubber for venting. When you put the cap back with the new piece and the old seal it is much tighter and I haven't had leak in 2 months. kinda back-woods, but it's free and easy and it works!

I read this post, and I remembered my friends 2001 escape, it had this EXACT problem. The dealer replaced 4 master cylinders! And finally ford released a revised cap and the leak hasn't come back.

I went outside to check mine and I saw brake fluid was in fact leaking!

LimeGT your idea sounds great, Did you check to make sure the inter-tube was resistant to brake fluid ?

When my car was brand new it had the same leak. First trip back to Ford I reported the leak and they ordered a new resovor cap. That fixed the problem.

I think we all should complain on our next service visit,so Ford makes a revised seal or cap.

I assumed that the rubber would be ok, as I have never seen brake fluid negatively affect rubber. But I went out and verified that it was ok anyway. While I had it apart, I went ahead and took a photo. I agree that Ford should address this. A two cent rubber seal replacement would fix it!

I tried wrapping some vinyl tape around the threads of the cap, see if this works...
