Jounce stops..anyone have to replace them?

Ok, just had a new suspension installed and it lowered the car about 1.25 inches all around..was wondering if these need to be changed because of the height difference? I've seen them included with other suspension packages but didn't get any with mine. The suspension is stiff and can feel every bump on the road..just wondering if these had something to do with it..thanks!

OneCoolGT, I lowered my 06 an inch and used the Ford Racing jounce stops, they are different from stock. I didn't go lower because I live in NYC and the roads are terrible. Getting back to your question, I don't feel every bump so you may want to change the jouce stops. The rear is real eazy to change but the fronts are much harder since you have to remove the struts.

Thanks, I lived in NY all my life and I agree with the roads being terrible! Some of them here in PA aren't the greatest either and hate traveling on a few because of the bumps.. I'm planning on taking a road trip back to NY in a few weeks and want these changed before I venture out. I just hate taking it back to the dealer because I know they're gonna charge me another labor fee to remove the front struts again.. Oh well, it has to be done. Thanks for the input!

I just cut mine down a tad and I don't think I really needed too. They only come into play at the end of the spring/strut travel. So unless you seem to be bottoming out a lot I would just leave them as is at least for a while.

No, not bottoming out..just wondering if they should be changed before I start feeling the chassis hitting the body.

They aren't super hard, they are actually pretty soft compared to "hard parts" but stiffen up as squeezed .... so they act like a "brake" before the hard parts meet hard parts. I was under mine today lowering the rear a tad over an inch (for looks mostly) and considered trimming the bumpers, but as soon as I saw how "wiggly soft" they are at first, decided to leave them alone.

I went with the Ford Racing Jounce Bumpers, pictured here before they were trimmed a little.
