I too, ignore those who want Dyno, Dyno, Dyno! I did my part as the test mule for this product and people are getting the same results as I am. That deserves a Banana.... :banana2:

 

Well I am definitely paying attention to this thread now, especially since some automatic folks are getting involved. And if this in any way helps to alleviate that darn throttle lag, they might just have another purchaser....

IMHO, Yes! I dunno about being "out of line", but one must consider that there's more than one way to look at things. Don't discount SOTP, it's the only thing that in the end is what really matters.

Let's say for instance that we had a 3rd party do a "proper" dyno test and the results were let's say a 10rwhp gain at peak. Based on that information alone, under your theory, that would be enough to qualify for a worthy mod.

By that same scenario it is quite possible that you would FEEL absolutely nothing.

The same is true of SOTP. It is quite possible that a good SOTP feel will yield little to no gain in a peak horsepower reading.

I'll take the word of 4 enthusiasts over a chart with numbers everyday, everytime... especially on a low-cost mod such as this.

 

Hmmm... sounds a lot like changing rear gears. No increase in HP, but major increase in SOTP excitement.

 

I'll definitely provide comments after Saturday night at the local 1/8-mi track...

Actually, going to a different gear will actually take hp away on the dyno. I haven't heard anyone complain about the SOTP feeling when they went to 4.10's.

 

And neither will I...

 

For everyone's edification:

I am scheduled to receive my TB spacer Friday. A shop near me has open DYNO days on Saturdays - first come, first serve on Saturday mornings. I have been meaning to get there to DYNO my car, anyway, as I have made a bunch of modifications, and because last time I DYNO'd it, I think something was screwed up with my tune.

I posted this before, but I've seen a number of '05 Mustang DYNO sheets - all of them, with the exception of one that had added charge motion delete plates - had a flat spot in the torque curve in the low RPM range. As many of us can testify to, this translates into an awful feeling when accelerating, until the engine hits the midrange RPMs.

In any case, assuming everything goes as planned, I'll get to the DYNO saturday morning, do one run before installing the TB Spacer, then another one after installing. Of course, I will post results, i.e., the dyno sheets. This should help determine whether the flat spot of the torque curve indeed "curves" up, and how much, if any, hp the TB Spacer adds.

 

Did all you who installed the spacer disconnect the battery? If so remember this ... you car will drive different when you reconnect and drive. The ECU has to relearn your driving habits. So, throttle response changes, shift pattern changes, throttle position changes, etc. This will make the SOTP feeling differ than before you disconnected the battery.

you have to disconnect the battery cause you are also disconnecting the plugs to the throttle body and removing the throttle body for a short period of time.

Anytime you do engine work on a car, its recommended you disconnect the battery, for safety reasons.

 

I agree about the diconnect. I just want you guys to realize that if you have disconnect the battery and reconnected you would have felt possible the same results.

Hey here's a question - if you have a custom tune in the car - disconnect the battery and reconnect - do you have to feflash the car? The custom tune doesn;t get aced somehow does it?.... I would think not but......

 

If you had a custome tune, I would be on the safe side and put your stock settings back in the car b4 u disconnect it, unplug the battery, put your mod on, connect the battery and then reflash your computer........

 

If you diconnect, it reverts to your last tune's base setting. Then over the next few hundred miles, it adjusts to your driving style, etc. This includes the way torque is managed and the power curve. Strange but true - this is another reason why the 05 is hard to tune. Just becuase you tune it one way does not mean it will stay exactly that way

hawgman, I think you might have missed my point. It has less to do with how many miles you drove since then, but more so that when you first re-connect the battery, it will drive differently Thats all I wanted to point out.

Just my two cents on the battery disconnect deal . . . when I disconnected my battery . . . . it did drive different . . . cruddy for almost 300 miles until it relearned everything.

 

Some people are too touchy.

Now I have to decide, tint the windows or cheap funmod.............
