I want to get my GT up in the air.
So that I can paint the calipers (all at once).
And so that I can paint the rear axle and
other areas in back.
SO! Where and how are the best places to jack her up and then to place
anywhere from 4 to 6 jack stands.
My jack is a 3 ton unit and my jackstands a rated at 3 tons each.
any info would be welcomed
Thank you

I place the floor jack under the differential. Jack up the back and place a jack stand under the axle near both tires. For the front I place the jack under the lower A arm. Raise the car up and place the jack stand under the frame and then do the same on the other side.
Edit: That is what I did when I painted my calipers and that is what I always do when cleaning my rims

Although, this just doesn't seem very safe when elevating the entire car and you're going to be doing work under it. But, for your job it should be okay.

I used the frame, and the jack created some indentations. It really doesn't matter to me since it's an area nobody will really see.
The manual specifically says not to use the rear diff. You guys are more knowledgeable than me, but I avoided it since it was in black & white.
I also didn't like the jack points on the outher edge of the under-car, as they were very narrow, and any slippage looked to me like it could cause damage to the rocker panels. They also looked to be a bit uneven, like two stamped pieces of metal were there and they weren't the exact same length.
It seems to me that there should some better options, but I didn't see any.

User the A frame for the front there are even some big noches about a foot in that are perfect for jack stands. I have talked to several mechanics about where to jack the back. Although they don't need to at the shop because they have lifts, they told me to use the differential. Just make sure that you jack is dead center under the differential because you don't want it to slip off. I think that is the reason that is says not to use it in the Ford manual.
Those jack points by each tire are for changing tires on the side of the road. If you lift the whole car on those you will regret it.

I used jack stands under the rear frame rails right in front of the mufflers when I changed out my rear springs. I didn't use the diff to raise the car though, as the manual scared me away from that, even though I've done it for years with other cars and never had a problem. I used the stock jack and jackpoints to raise the car up onto the stands.
