Well I found out today you can't weld the PVC with scrap pieces. You need special PVC welding rod an an expensive welding gun. :bang: I found some hot melt glue for PVC and will close the seam with this. After it has set I'll give it a good hammer test to see how well it holds.

My next entry won't be until Monday. Tomorrow my son and I will be installing my 4.10 gears. I'll be busy with the family on Easter Sunday so check in on Monday for the latest update.
I strongly advise not glueing the seam with glue. It will never be as strong as a pipe that has not been cut. I predict failure with this approach.

get some glue from LORD FUSOR corp

you can glue metal to metal and it will rip around the glue spot , but wont pull the metal apart

same goes for urethane bumper covers, repair a crack, you cant rip it back apart at the repair point, its stronger than the original piece

Jay, you have a good product! Don't get on the defensive...he's just messing around. I don't think he's looking to make money with this by using quicksteel purchased from Autozone. Then again, he may have something here-who knows!

Hey George, I work for a manufacturer of irrigation products. We have our own injection molding facility as well. Besides our own parts, we do injection molding for Motorola, Harley Davidson and quite a few others. I know every irrigation house around and can get you any pipe you want for less than what you're paying.

I know, I was just messing around. Your project is interesting though. I'm sure Jay can attest to the fact that this is how guys get started in making products. It's how the owner of the company I work for got started. He was an aerospace engineer and wanted to automate his sprinklers. He's been in the business for 30 years and holds 55 or so patents. It's just interesting to me. I like manufacturing. I'm like a little kid seeing a fire truck when I'm in our injection mold facility.
Jay-I mean no disrespect at all!

Thanks for the offer Dave. As I,ve said before, this will be one of a kind. I have no intention of mass producing these.

This looks like it's starting to come together-Rough edges knocked off, etc. Besides the filter, the MAF housing will just about finish it off...besides assembly. Looking great!

Good job so far I am impressed your prototyped thus far - and pretty nice setup I would say. Get past that setback and keep on keeping on.
