Interior of the car is cooler now.
My car was getting a lot of heat from the stock cats. I drive with the windows down all of the time, but I have had to use the A/C a few times in slow traffic because of the heat generated off the stock cats.
Not a problem now. These competition cats are about 1/5 of the size of stock, not to mention a lot lighter.

Changing out the cats CURED mine.
The stock cats are as long as my thigh, and they get VERY hot. They are located just under the center consul. A boot on the parking brake would keep some of the heat bottled up, but not all.

I have the Bassani comp cats and my center console is always cool. Also, you are correct that they are much lighter. I would say b/w the two of them you save easily 20-30 lbs. I held the factory H pipe with cats and man that thing was heavy.
Look at the size difference:

Anyone know where you can order JUST the cats (and surrounding pipes), i.e., WITHOUT the X-pipe. I ordered and installed the X-pipe keeping the stock cats, but think I'd like to replace them at some point with the full bassani cats. Does this make sense...?
