From: Beautiful New Hampshire!!!
For those of you that don't understand why someone would drive around with their foglights on and no fog, maybe you should try driving down a twisty country road at nite(and faster than 25 mph!!) or in a subdivision at twilite with little kids running around!!! I want as many forward pointing lites on my vehicles as I can get!! B) The only thing I don't like is the new HID lites, when the car hits a bump, they flash blue and I think some cop is hitting his lites behind me!!! :bang:

My preference for running them at night is better visibility of my car to other drivers. I hate it when someone doesn't see you and pulls into your lane.
I can't imagine they're pulling in front of you because they can't see you (with just your headlights on). If their that blind, they shouldn't be on the road, period. I can imagine they are pulling in front of you for the usual reasons of stupity, arrogance, ignorance, poor judgement, etc., none of which would be ameliorated by fog lights being on.

I've got lower valance fog lights on my Probe GT, along with some great Hella H4 headlights running good xenon bulbs. The former aren't all that bright really, so I can get away with using them whenever I have my headlights on without blinding anybody, though I rarely due out of mutual respect for my fellow driver. My Hella's, while bright, have excellent optics and a razor sharp upper beam cutoff and well defined overall light pattern, so they probably result in less glare than dimmer but poorer quality DOT-code headlights. Not sure what to optical quality of the '05's lights are and how that might contribute to irrate, oncoming traffic.

Ironically, running ones foglights for safety and yet they are either blinding or greatly distracting oncoming drivers will probably result in a net loss of overall safety.

My humble suggestion regarding fog/driving lights: leave 'em off in the face of oncoming traffic in fog-free situations -- don't want you or your fellow road warriors to get hurt (much less your shiny new '05 :-)!

What makes you think its ok to drive around blinding other drivers? You know you do it because you think your cool but in reality no one cares but you.

On the other hand you have drivers out there who will turn on every light on their car BUT their headlights untill its completely dark out.

Your so cool man, wow, keep it up and you might get laid.

You know...anybody is just stupid if they are going to fixate and stare at the lights of an oncoming car. There are ways to drive safely despite the sun (or equally electrically powered lights) in your face.

Hey , that looks like my Mazda 6......COOL.....I am actually selling mine.
Rene,
Why would you say you're selling your 6? Is it a 6s? I don't want to turn this into a M6 thread, but I had one of them too and dumped it.

Just curious.

wow, this turened in to a realy weird thread. i always have my fog lights on in my 96 gt. I didn't really think anything of it. It puts more light on the road for me and i never get flashed from people that are blinded. I put diamond fog lights on mine to match my upgraded headlights so mine would blind people more that regular ones. They are aimed reletively low though. And whoever said that you focus on the front of your car when you fogs are on is high. If you don't know where to look when your driving then you shouldn't be behind the wheel. I know I focus the same distance at night as i do at noon. Plus you shouldn't "focus" anyway that's what causes tunnel vision, which is much more dangerous that fog lights.

As a side note, mods get on these new people because their mouth is bigger than their brain. :tex:

The reason you don't get flashed is because your fogs are positioned down low. When the fogs are up level with the headlights (like the GT and Mazda 6) some people assume they're brights and flash at you even though they aren't being blinded any more than with low beams. It's a distinction that BamBam is unable to comprehend and instead of trying to understand it, he'd rather resort to pre-pubescent name-calling and obnoxious troll behaviour. :notnice:

wow after reading all these post, im going to get flamed either way, but why not have your fogs on. My 93 Gt just doesnt look right without them on. I am more annoyed with the huge suvs and trucks that put their lights right in your mirror. I could careless if i annoy the person infront of me with my fogs on, i dont care whay they think and im not going to change my habits because of them. That ticket law is such bs too, tell me what court that is going to hold up in?
