I have the same problem with my Mazda 6. The fogs are integrated into the headlight modules:

The outer lights are the low beams and the third lights in are the fogs. The highs are big lights closest to the grill opening. I have people flashing their brights at me all the time. I usually don't do anything the first time but if they flash them again, I'll flash back to let them know they aren't brights they're seeing.

Well, you have to decide... if it's more important to look cool (running your fogs when it isn't foggy) or if it's more important to do the right thing (give people a break and don't run the fogs if it isn't foggy).

Granted, when I get my '05, I'll probably run with the fogs a little. But it IS the JC Whitney thing to do (ok, I guess today we'd say it's the Ricer thing to do).

Too bad you don't get flashed in a good way.. right

Yea.. I knew that would happen when I saw them driving at night at the Downriver Cruise in June.

When that happens to me, I quickly flash my brights to show them the difference!
For some odd reason it happens to me quite a bit in my Nissan pickup

Flash your brights back at them. That'll teach em that you don't have yours on.

Why would you ever run your foglights when it isn't foggy or raining out?
#1 - you look like a clown, it is not "cool".
#2 - your're eyes naturally focus on the area with the brightest light. With your foglights on, that is 10-20 feet in front of your car, not down the road where you should be looking. At highway speeds, by the time you see something illumated by the fogs, you will have run it over.

What's the angle on fog lights? Meaning orientation to the ground. Lows are at downward angle, highs aim straight out. My current fogs on my Camaro are low and don't seem to point in a direction that would blind anyone.

dmould.
Alot would argue on your definition of "cool."
Fogs work in conjunction with the headlights at night. Not independently. You'd be stupid to run just the fogs at night.

Further, any country bumpkin will tell you to look at the side of the road when passing other cars at night instead of straight ahead so you're not light-blinded.

That'll teach em huh. There's nothing like getting blinded out by some ***** that thinks they need ridiculously bright headlights. Then to make it worse you get pissed off when someone flashes you, who do you think you are anyways. Its pretty pathetic you think your cool because of your stupid headlights, what a dork, get a life.

What dmould said. What is it with people using fog lamps when it's not foggy? Heck, they don't even help much when it is foggy.

I also assumed the fogs were going to be an issue. I am going to replace my fogs with high power driving lights (150w each) & put rectangular fogs into the lower grill where the blanks are. This way you can run your fogs low where they should be, and when your haulen you have 4 high beams working for you.

Somewhere, some article, Thai-Tang or some other lead Mustang person, said that the '05's fog lights actualy qualify as real fog lights and not just decorative lights like on some other cars.

I'd like to know the spec on "real" fog lights...don't seems like they'd be intended to blind people :S Wish I could find that article, too.

I have an Xterra and get really tired of getting flashed because people think I have my high beams on. I usually just turn my highs on and leave them on when I get flashed anymore.

I'm assuming they aren't adjustable at all? C5 Corvette owners have to set thiers, since the factory doesn't do it.

I had a similar problem with my '89 F-150. I was constantly flashed and i'd simply flash them back to show them that my brights weren't on. I guess the truck being higher up with new bulbs/lenses made things tough on other drivers.

Screw 'em, and flash your brights at 'em. I run my driving lights all the time, because in addition to hitting right in front of the car, they also do a good job of illuminating off to the sides. I could care less what anybody else thinks
