How much HP will our stock 4.6L take before problems???

Thank you everyone for your input....The weakest link does not seem to be the engine after all...It would be nice if there was a section with this information...Something easy to see. Maybe it is somewhere I have not seen yet...

The killer of these engines is poor tunes and detonation. I have seen them pop at under 400rwhp and I have seen them live to well into 600rwhp. The key is GREAT tuning regardless of your power adder. I'm one pulley change behind Vegasjay and we both use JDM for our tuning and support. They have over 400 supercharged S197's running around the country at different power levels with no blown engines.

SO do you guys think that I have go with a WHipple charger and tune it to around 400rwhp, I should be ok? That should satisfy my power cravings, at least for a little while...til I can beef up the block !
