How much HP will our stock 4.6L take before problems???

What do you think???

I am thinking Supercharger like many...But, can not stop thinking what our limit is. I would hate to blow an engine.

I see many with supercharges and have not seen one engine problem yet...That is a good thing.

Anyone with a Supercharger please give us some input...Any problems at all and how much HP are you pulling???

Thank you...

Basically the difference between the two kit's is you can run higher boost levels with the intercooled kit. There's like a 40hp difference between the two. I got quotes for instalation for both kit's and it was 300-400 for the non-intercooled kit and 800 for the intercooled kit. I will most likely upgrade to the intercooler later on but for now I think the non-intercooled kit will be great.

Intercooling cools the compressed air (it heats up as it is compressed). Hot air is less dense than cooler air, so a cooler air / fuel mixture delivers even more HP as a result. A cooler air fuel charge mixture is less susceptable to detonation as well. So even for a milder blower or supercharger setup (less boost), intercooling is a good and benifical thing. A good intercooler set up can yield 10 to 15% or more additional increase in HP.

For the same boost, an intercooled set up will produce more HP.

There are two type of intercoolers. Air to air. And Air to Water.

My bottom end is stock...I started with the nitrous system then latter added the S/C'er. I don't spray now that it's S/C'ed. I will wait until I get my bottom end forged untill I start spraying again . My numbers are just supercharged...

I read that about a year ago...I'm not the one wondering what the limits are. I am one of the one's pushing the envelope for everyone else. I don't expect my motor to go 100,000 miles, I am curious to what it will take. Thanks for the link though...

ok from what i heard from the head tech of the Whipple is that the auto trans is only made to handle 400RWHP and any higher then that will slowly break down, the engine however is around the 450-550RWHP range (but the Saleen S281E is reporting more then this) the drive shaft too can only handle around 400-450RWHP

The TR-3650 is rated for 360 ft-lb of torque. This is the 5-speed manual.

I believe everyone is in general agreement that 450 rwhp is the upper limit on the engine and much less on the auto trans. I know ...I know ... This guy and that guy is running much more but for how long. Lets not forget that these cars are just a little over 2 years old. To me that is not a long haul yet.
