How to keep tires from "jumping/jerking" taking off?

Sorry if this isn't the right area but I have a question. Hopefully you guys get what I'm saying about the jumping part, but how do you get it not to do that? I have a couple possible reasons my car does it, tires are bad and I'm just gunning it too much right away.

Any suggestions? I have all this power but my take off's are pretty bad since my wheels just start "jumping", not spinning though. It's like they're not catching the road. Once I'm going 5pmh its good, its just taking off. I should be going to the track tomorrow and hoping to get good take off's.

I notice this even more so with my new 93 Hybrid Tune and Airaid Race CAI

You got yourself a wheel hop issue. A little rear suspension work will help. Adjustable rear shocks. Maybe a few more people will have more input.

I mean should it really be doing that? Its an 08 with 39k miles, suspension should be okay I would think.

Yea that's called wheel hop. Upper and lower control arms and springs seem to be the most popular way to cope with this issue. I have zero suspension mods so I'm useless beyond paraphrasing what I've read on other threads lol.

yeah for sure dude. my friend takes his dads 67 out and it does the same exact thing. But yeah, I won't be getting any suspension mods for awhile so I guess I'll just ease into for now on. Different road surfaces seem to play a role in it as well.

I'm actually suppose to be going there tomorrow assuming good weather. that's what I was concerned for when I go. though I'm sure the surface is better there.

To be honest, when I'm at the track, I only get wheel hop when I spin the tires clean. When I launch I'm all good. Be sure to post your times. Take I easy your first pass, don't go all out.

Rear Lower control arms fixed the hop for me on the street. My rear axle used to jackhammer around like crazy any time I drove in wet conditions or dumped the clutch, but now it stays planted. It's a mod I strongly recommend as a fix for those piece of crap stock ones.

What worked for me was the ford K springs and LCAs helped but not that much, but both together my problem is completely gone

The best advice i can give you mate it's to go talk to Brandon from Steeda. Their products are top quality and the wheel hop will for sure be solved. I ordered several parts for my suspension from Brandon, and he is very cool, just talk to him

thanks for all the suggestions. I'll have to look those mods up, but unfortunately won't be able to do anything right now.

if you are tight on money, try some good lca's and if that doesn't work get the roush rear springs only, drops about and inch and adj. panhard bar. it will plant your rearend and level your stance all at the same time. no more wheel hop and you don't have to fool with the uca, just my opinion

We can definitely help with the "stop the hop". A good set of lower control arms will help eliminate the hop.

PM if we can put together a package for you that will include forum pricing. We do offer financing if you have that itch!!

Best Regards,

TJ

TJ,

Can you PM me a price on a set of the Billet rear lower control arms for my '13 GT/Track Pack?

Interested in what that "forum discount" would be ...
