Help: Are HD upper Strut mounts really needed??

Planning my winter upgrades, which will include lowering springs (more than likely Steeda Ultralites) for my 07 GT vert., and wondering if I will need the HD upper strut mount? I have read several places that the lowering springs could cause some periodic popping, but some of it was due an older style mount that was addressed on the coupes (just not on the ragtops). I also plan to add an adjustable panhardbar/brace, adj. LCAs and some good shocks/struts to make things a little tighter.

So my question is... are these something I should invest in or not needed/worth the investment? Asking because I found a good deal on a set of Steeda (HD upper mounts) and need to move on them today.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have them and feel they're worth getting , so if you're getting a good price on them I would definitely recommend it ...

Thanks for the input. I will get them ordered tonight!

But that means I will need to order some other goodies as well. Man, finding this forum is really starting to hit my savings hard!

You need them, I went through 4 sets of OEM mounts, all different manufacturing dates, just buy the HD's. I finally did 1 1/2 years ago, not a single problem since. You won't regret it!

I bought the GT500 strut mounts months ago... not a peep out of them and they're only $75 vs paying 200+ for a set of aftermarket. Only reason I could see getting the aftermarkets is for more camber adjustment, although all you really need is +/- 2 degrees which you can get out of camber bolts and they're easier to adjust.

I bought them when I got my Steeda UltraLites and Steeda struts. easy to install, well built, and easy to adjust the camber. I recommend them.

I tried a set of GT500 strut mounts too and they snapped crackled and popped just like the like the originals. In fact anyone interested in trying the GT500 upper strut mounts pm me, I'll send you the GT500 mounts for the cost of shipping...

all great feedback... thanks!

But now I am very confident with the investment, especially with the deal I found.
