Clutch suggestions

Hey all,

Looking for some suggestions/recommendations on an after market clutch. I am still under warranty but I was told even though the warranty is still in affect, the clutch is still a wear and tear item which I will have to pay for. Everything else, labor and what not is covered except the actualy cost for the clutch? Sounds weird when it's bumper to bumper..

Anyway, weather the clutch itself is covered or not, I can get the work done under warranty while putting in an aftermarket clutch instead of another factory.

What I am looking for is something stronger then the stock unit but comparable to the stock units performance. In other words, I don't want to have a leg the size of Shrek to push it down LOL. The car is my daily driver but want to keep the feel close to the stock one but have something a little stronger to handle the strip or track if I choose.

Suggestions?

I have the Spec 3+ and the pedal is a little more stiff than stock, however it's not nearly as bad as I worried that it might be. But it may be more than what you're looking for, it will hold a ton of power but it is a little on/off. I would not do a Spec 1 or 2 though, if you're looking at Spec do atleast a 3. Otherwise you could look at Centerforce, I've seen people have good luck with those.

Best solution to your situation would be to install a dual disc setup like the GT500 has, it will hold a ton of power and has very light pedal feel BUT they cost about 2x as much as a beefy aftermarket clutch like the Spec 3+.

Centerforce Dual Friction 2005+ Mustang GT Clutch Kit.

Includes Pressure plate and disk. CenterforceŽ is proud to announce an 11” direct replacement high performance clutch system for the 2005 4.6L Ford Mustang GT. This hot new application is now available in a Dual Friction clutch assembly. The Dual Friction should be used for hot street and/or weekend racing and more extreme power upgrades.
The Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch set is a performance matched pressure plate & disc combination. Centerforce Dual-Friction pressure plates feature their patented centrifugal weight system (where applicable) and specialized machining processes to provide a performance clutch that offers exceptional street characteristics, while offering outstanding holding-capacity and durability. Furthermore, the Centerforce Dual-Friction disc has a full facing on the pressure plate side for drivability and longevity, while a carbon composite puc style (segmented) facing is used on the flywheel side for a positive engagement and increased holding-capacity. Dual Friction is engineered for those who are looking for the ultimate in street/strip holding power and performance without sacrificing pedal effort and driver control. While the Dual Friction has been engineered primarily as a street clutch it can be used in mild competition applications.

I have used centerforce clutches in my 500+ Horsepower Mopars and had Good Results. Good wear and Light Pedal Pressure.
