Ceramic coatings are great to keep the heat contained in the headers. I am running OBX headers that are 304 SS and not coated. I have never had a heat issue.

304-SS and you will be good to go, not may have wrapped them on these cars... if so, let him speak...
you also have to be careful w/ any type of coating as it will(can) rust from the inside/out if not coated properly.
my OBX does not present any heat concerns. although, i use my shaker like a heat extractor.

I have the base model Hooker long tubes (non-coated), so I wrapped mine with DEI exhaust wrap. Works SO well. In the summer time after driving for a long period of time I would pop my hood, put my hand near the valve covers, and there was significant heat decrease from the stock headers. This is the second exhaust piece that I've wrapped (had a big turbo STI before that I did it too), and am please so far.
You definitely need to be careful when you apply exhaust wrap though. Wear gloves, the wrap has small fiberglass particles and will cause your hands to itch for days. Also, it's imperative that you wrap very tightly when applying.

Yeah...I've heard of this. I sold my STI to a guy down the street (who daily drives the car), no problem, three years now.
