I agree with using a tee on the oil sending unit and keeping the stocker. Here's my set up. Water temp.,Voltage, and Oil pressure.

The best way is to use a T-fitting and retain the stock sender. That way you still have it in the case of a complete loss of oil pressure in adittion to your aftermarket gauge.
If you do decide to get rid of the stock sender you must remove it from the car. The electrical connector will need one side of it connected to ground. This will fool the computer into thinking that the stock sender is still there and is indicating the prescence of oil pressure.
If you do decide not to use the stock sender you MUST do as indicated above. If you were to unscrew it from the engine and leave it plugged in OR if you were to simply disconnect the electrical plug from the stock sender either way the computer will see this as zero oil pressure and throw a code.
Also whatever you decide to do remember to use some thread seal tape on the threads to ensure a leak free seal.

I thought about one of those performance gauges.
I ended up getting an oil pressure gauge to fill the second spot.
maybe sometime later I will add one of those. they seem pretty cool.
I wonder how accurate they are?

 

I have a Passport G-timer which is a similar device. While I find it is good for determining increases in performance from modifications the actual numbers that it produces are not accurate. I have found that for measuring 1/4 mile times at least it is not very accurate at all. In my case there seems to be approximately 1.3 second difference between what my G-timer indicates and what I get at the drag strip. It reads a much lower than actual 1/4 mile E.T.s than what I get at the track.

 

Anybody have a pic of this o2 bung that you have to install?

did the install today, oil pressure and wideband a/f. install took about me about 2.5-3hours, i am slow. I already had an extra bung that was just plugged in my mid pipe. hardest part was the tight working quarters w/ the T fitting and both senders. i will post up some pics tomorrow.

 

Glad it all worked out for you. Now you can drive not having to guess about what's going with your engine.

 

Sounds like TacoBill is going to need to do a write up on Air/Fuel, Oil Press, Water Temp, Oil Temp, etc gauge installations!
