I think Ive asked this before, but can't remember a definate answer- how well would these cams work with a blown application?
They don't recommend them for F/I cars. The overlap isn't conducive to F/Is

Yeah, but I think he mentioned it was difficult to get a spot inline. I'm getting a little skepical, as others are saying the FRPP cams don't make enough power to warrant the price, compared to Comp NSR cams. I wish someone with the Hot Rod Cams would just bite the bullitt and get their car dyno'ed so we can see once and for all, what the power increase is.

I just basically said the same thing in another thread.
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...91#post5632791

Basically some people need to understand how a cam works and at what RPM different grinds work at. To make the best power possible a cam needs to have the highest lift possible and the longest duration possible at a specfic RPM to make the best power. High overlap (lopely) cams are strictly high RPM cams. If they are really lopey and high overlap they will lose their bottom end grunt and move the power band upward. This is not my opinion it is basic internal combustion engine physics. You want sound or power?

I like the idea of more top-end power........

Guess I am also waiting to see a dyno. I gotta say it sounded very sweet, but at the same time I wouldnt want to kill my torque for it. (saying that not knowing what the #'s are)

What Id really like to achieve is the sound of that Mach with my car.....

I have the FRPP hot rod cams installed in my 2006 GT. Lidio tuned the car a few weeks ago, and the HP & torque peaks are about the same as without the cams. I previously had a JLT intake & 93 torque tune from Doug at Bamachips. If anything, the hot rod cams lost a little torque in the mid-range.

Anyone notice Ford Racing updated their parts website for these cams?
"30hp gain without CNC heads. (with long tube headers and M-9603-GTB cold air kit)"

So essentially, the HP gains are coming from the other mods, not the cams. In any event, the car sounds fantastic. Just don't expect a significant gain from FRPP cams alone.

Then why would I put in a performance part if I would lose some performance? That seems counter-productive.
You want a lopey idle, unplug one of your coil packs - that is free!

Probbably not as a stand-alone mod. When you add port and polished heads, then YES, its worth it.

Well I am glad people are starting to see that when it comes to cams you can either get a set that will produce the most power possible or get a set that has the awesome sound of the Hot Rod cams but will not see much power gain. Regardless of the manufacturer claims. I was at Brenspeeds dyno day a few weeks back and there was a guy there that had the Thumper Comp cams put in a few weeks before by Dave @ Brenspeed. I heard this car run and it was truely sounded awesome but in talking to the fellow he said he only gained 10 hp / 0 tq with them. He was okay with that because he did it for the sound. I have the regular NSR Comp Cams and I gained a solid 25 rwhp with them. But my idle is only slightly rougher than stock. It is hard to really tell I had cams done. So everyone needs to decide why you want to do cams. Sound or power?
