Cool... Powerhouse takeoffs, I see.
Yup, the other bidder took me to my limit though, I knew the $475 was wishful thinking, $650 was the absolute max I would have gone, luckily the other guys max was $600, so I made out.

It'll be awhile before these get on though. Got save up the duckies for installation and a custom tune/dyno time.

300+ rwhp here I come

I think I am going to do the same thing...good now I will just wait and hear what you have to say about this setup Whats the ETA on all this getting on your car?

Whops I didnt see your last post about the ETA.

So do you need a custom tune for that kind of setup or can you get a tune from bamachips that would work for a intake,lt,o/r H, and exhaust?

You guys will love the longtubes. They have a great sound (read "loud")and good performance. I got a kick out of the answer Powerhouse gave on the ebay page. Could be installed in 2 hours . Not a chance. Maybe with 4 very sharp mechanics and a lift. I have installed headers on just about every car or truck I have owned(including some big block vehicles)and these were time consuming. Worth it though .

I think you'd be alright with a semi-custom tune from Bamachips Firedude has one with his setup.

I have a unique Airaid CAI (not MANY people have it) that's going to require some custom tuning by opening up the MAF housing to 98mm.

I've just been waiting for the opportunity to get custom tuned, but didn't think it would be worth it until I least had longtubes, so I've been planning this for awhile now.

Concur. I have already been in contact with Doug regarding this, and he said he can do it for me as well. Can't wait to try it out!! :worship:

I'm trying to hold off on a custom dyno tune until the blower goes on.

I will give it to you if don loans it to me at 0%

I plan to do an intake and the full exhaust pretty quick after I get the car so a good custom tune would be cool. The wife is also getting me 410's or 30's (cant decide) for xmass so I will need the speedo fix. Do it all at once tune once and be set, till heads/cams are out and are reasonable. Then maybe a blower and a beefing up of the internals....long term goal.

I'd do 4.10's, 4.30's with a full aftermarket exhaust is drone city.

I am kinda leaning to the 4.10's...I will just always wonder how the 30's would have felt!

so is there not anyone here that has heard the earlier borla sound on 99-04 stangs, and can compare them to the sound of the 05 with borlas. I really loved it in the 99-04 4.6. Trying to figure out if it is as deep a sound as then in the 95 now. thanks for anyone with previous borla experience.

So where are you going to get the Dyno tune? I talked to Arizona Dyno Chips in Phoenix and they seem very knowledgible and friendly. http://www.arizonadynochip.com/Default.asp

AMP Performance They just opened their own dyno facility back in September. They've already done some great projects including a 480+ HP Automatic Saleen convertible.

This will be the test to keep or chuck the Diablo Tuner. If I get a great tune from them, I'll stick with Diablo, if not....it's SCT Time.

If the body shop gets done with the stripes sometime I'll finally get to hear them in person as well.

I am not 100% sure, but I believe the sound is a little different. I wanted that "Borla" sound that the earlier cars made also. I have not heard my car from the outside as it drives away but to me, and again maybe its just me, but I think the sound is a little different. (Very aggressive sounding from inside the car) I would imagine that some of the sound difference could be attributed to the shape of the new mufflers. I would suggest trying to find someone who has it on their car and listening to the "live" version. Good Luck!

I also think the location of the mufflers further back on the car vs. the SN-95 will contribute quite a bit to the tonal aspect, especially since there are no tailpipes.

This topic reminded me that years ago, I let a friend drive my '79 Trans AM around the parking lot so I could hear what the exhaust sounded like.

The borla's now (STYpe) sound EXTREMELY close to the Stingers of the Sn95 generation.

If your comparing the regular borla mufflers (SN95) to the S-Type axleback on the 05s...you're comparing the wrong type of mufflers....

The Stypes/Stingers sound almost identicle from 99-06

I just got mine from a out of town ford dealership for 367 (330 + shipping) to my door. Not to bad from what I have found.
