Well after all the advice I received (thank you all) I decided to pull the trigger on the FRPP 3.73's from Summit.
They arrived Friday and I will have them installed this next week. I appreciate all you guys with 4.10's and your opinions. I just felt 3.73's were the right choice for me. I'll post some feedback on the gears next week. Hopefully I'll be of some help to someone wanting to do this same mod in the future.

Well with the price of gas on the rise and no relief in sight that might be the wise choice! I hope you enjoy them~

If I had purchased the automatic, which I almost did, I would have gone with the 3.73's. You'll have a nice set-up!

i am going with 4.10's although, an article in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Ford's suggested 4.30's were THE gear for the 3V Like I needed to think about it more.....son of a...

I just read that same article. I also thought "son of a........" at first. Then all I have to do is run by the nearest gas station and see gas prices. I think the 3.73's will be a "happy medium" for me.

I have been considering 4.10's for my auto, but when looking at the RPM's it seems like it might be too high for me when driving to work on the expressway daily. I think 3.73 may be a happy medium for me as well, I'm waiting to read your results

Around town, the lower, 3.73 gears are going to provide better fuel economy, no? I guess the gains compared to the 3.55's are marginal up to a point...what speed do you think economical advantage disappears?

75mph with 4.10s = ~2700rpm
75mph with 3.73s = ~2450rpm

I dropped around 1mpg when switching to 4.10s from 3.31s.

In fact, for the past two months I have been driving a V6 rental, and it gets 20mpg on my normal dialy commute. I was getting around 18mpg with my GT and 4.10s on the same commute.

That's could be misleading...you probably got on the gas at every opportunity with the new gears!

while I'm sure 3.73's are going to be great (I have them in my 66 fastback). 4.10s are an amazing gear with an auto in the 05+ mustangs. That said, you're really going to enjoy the extra scoot of the 3.73s
