That's where mine's at. I've bounced a few times and have been told it's A-OK.

Most anyone who has an aftermarket tune has their limiter raise. When I first got my S/C I hit the limiter all the time , it scary but as far as I know it doesn't hurt anything ...

Couple years ago I saw a show about the making of the new S197 Mustang, and there was a scene where Ford had the 4.6 3v engine up on chains and were running all kinds of tests on it. They were running a test where they had the engine spinning at 6900rpm for a ridiculous amount of time to test the durability of the rods and links. Needless to say, it held up very well. So I'm sure bouncing off the limiter at 6500 isnt going to hurt all that much

6250 is stock. I raised mine to 7000 so I can redline third gear in the quarter to save a shift and because I make power right to 6300. I shift at 6300-6400 1-3rd gear ALL the time.

I set mine for 6500. It's only 250 above stock, it can't hurt anything I'm sure. Especially since I only hit it once in a great while.

Anyone know what difference is between our rev limiter, which seems to cause a 0.5 second loss of power, and other rev limiters that can be bounced off rapidly maybe 10-20 times a second?

I mean, anyone know the physical differences in rev limiting technology used? I really don't like our rev limiter, it feels like a punishment every time I hit it. I have it set to 6500 right now, but would be happy to have it at 6250 if it was a "bouncing" rev limiter instead of our "kill the engine" rev limiter..

Bullitts are set at 6500 on the same engine from the factory anyway, even Ford can't say that's bad.

Correct, but Ford puts a different crank damper on the Bullitts, claiming that is what allows the higher rpm's. I still think 6500 is safe.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's because ours has a strict fuel cut-off technology. Once you hit the rev limiter, which is actually the fuel shut off, it cuts off fuel to the engine for either a certain period of time, or until the engine revs down past a certain point. I dont know which it is, but it was the same way in my 99 Cougar V6.

I reset my 07 GT automatic's redline to 7,000 rpm's. I shift at 6,500 rpm's at the track, and just wanted a few hundred rpm's buffer so that the rev limiter never comes into play.
